Honestly, what has exactly Michaels ever accomplished in terms of impact in the industry?

Shawn Michaels - Never was a draw, Never was the guy and Never defined an era. He was good in the ring, but so were many others before and after him. The period he headlined almost drove the company out of business, infact the lowest rated period in WWE history was when Shawn was top star. His backstage politics killed ton of promising careers in the late 90s, almost every fan acknowledges this. Today Shawn Michaels, due to his infamous drug habits, shitty irresponsible attitude, selfishness and ego, has become someone WWE almost always points out as example to every upcoming young wrestlers, in order to make them learn why Shawn is someone you never wanna be in your career.

In comparison, John Cena is huge star, has been the guy as long as entire Shawn's career, and defined an entire era in WWE. His stardom and popularity has brought ton of younger fans, lucrative sponsers and helped WWE's global brand reach over the years. Cena's 36m facebook fans alone is a major proof of this. Also, in contrast to Michaels, John Cena, due to his work ethic, stardom, hard work, his make-a-wish contributions and good heart, has become someone WWE points out as someone young wrestlers need to aspire to be in this business. Unlike Shawn, Cena is a positive influence and inspiration to those who aspire to make it big in the business.

Conclusion being, in terms of impact in the industry, John Cena has far surpassed Shawn Michaels. He well deserves to be placed above HBK in any all time list without a doubt. Do you agree?

Yes. Nothing against Michaels but no one has had a bigger impact on wrestling than Cena other than Hogan and Austin.

Yes judge Shawn for this when Cena is so great at putting over young talent. SMH

Yes cena had the biggest NEGATIVE impact on wwe. He is the soul reason wwe is not looked at as cool anymore. Cena started out great early on but vince forced the lame marine/kid hero gimmick down our throats for 10 yrs. It's leading to the demise of the wwe

Impact, clearly as noted.

If we're talking about impact on the modern style of wrestling or the way modern wrestlers work, then no, Cena's not higher then Shawn by any stretch.

But it seems like by "impact" we mean financial impact, so sure. I'm not sure anyone would even dispute that Cena is bigger than Shawn in that regard.

Cena has killed loads of young talent past few years. Also he leeches off other wrestlers popularity, instantly ruining that wrestler's coolness factor. Cena is horrible. Shawn Michaels has never been horrible or hated by 75 percent of fans non kayfabe wise like cena is

I mean I guess the Montreal Screwjob, DX, and that ladder match with Razor Ramon was nothing.

Not to mention he trained the most over guy in the company right now.

I have yet to see a wrestler say John Cena is the reason they started wrestling. Ask some of the newer guys about HBK and see what their reaction is.

OP must be Vince.

Scratch that, because if he was, this would have been another Reigns thread.

Edit: I mean as an entertainer Shawn excelled (before and after he got saved and shit) and while Cena has had his moments, he mostly be remembered for boring us to death.

Plus in Shawn's day, the WWE had legit competition from WCW. Cena has never had to worry about TNA putting them out of business.

Money impact yes. In terms of impact in the product itself HBK's impact > Cena's impact. HBK influenced a lot of wrestlers from the following era, had the montreal screwjob, the ladder match with Razor, DX, 5 star matches (yes, it is impact).

Business Cena
Product Michaels
