Is WWE phasing out Alex Riley?

By phasing out, I mean his involvement in The Miz's matches.

Because I've noticed that after the Royal Rumble (when he became an offical WWE Superstar), that while he still accompanies The Miz to the ring, cuts promos backstage, and does commentary, he isn't half as physically involved as he used to be.

The night after the Rumble, Miz had a match against Edge, and Riley through a punch, but that was pretty much it.

Last week, The Miz had a tag team match against Jerry Lawler, but Alex Riley wasn't really there to help.

This week, Miz beat both the United States Champion Daniel Bryan on Raw and the Intercontinental Champion Kofi Kingston on SmackDown, and Riley never even touched the ring in either match.

Well he wasn't in that tag match because Ted had some history with both Lawler and Bryan at that point, making more sense he was in the match. It would get tired if he was involved in every match so I'm glad he isn't really.
If he got involved in every Miz match it would get boring and old quick
I think they just wanted to test him out on commentary and see how he'd do. As far as not helping Miz, they gotta make it believable that Miz could beat that 103 year old man on Sunday, so gotta give him a clean win with no help from Riley.

exactly. and its also to make the miz look a little more credible and show that he can do it on his own...honestly, im getting a vibe that somewhere down the line, sooner rather than later, miz will turn on him.

You've hit the final nail in the coffin sir.
Hopefully, because the guy is full stop terrible and makes me want to turn the channel whenever he is on.

What is his purpose? He does nothing for the miz, and his character just doesnt feel right or come across well.

The high school jock bully thing is old as hell itself.

Unfortunately, they're probably going to make where Michael Cole interferes near the end.
I think all of this is good for Riley though, I have a more positive outlook than Pyro does. Where would Riley be without being The Miz's apprentice? He'd be on superstars fueding with Darren Young. You never know how things will turn out in the future, but right now they're testing Riley out with different things, he's doing a LOT of media with Miz on TV, radio and wrestlinginc posted an interview he did solo - so they're definitely testing him to see how he does in these roles. Don't let the negativity of others fool you. He's losing matches, but it's against Orton and Cena in the main event scene. Riley is definitely being tested.
I think they should just have Miz and Riley switch roles and then play dumb when somebody calls them out on it.

Riley > Miz.

Completely true. Unfortunately, the IWC won't stop slobbering all over his nuts, because he has "mic skills". I've yet to see these so-called terrific mic skills of his. All I've seen is the guy botching. The NXT botch with Percy Watson was one of the dumbest things I've ever seen. He botches in the ring almost every time he's in there. And he botched on commentary several times. I just don't see it with him yet. Maybe he'll turn it around.
But who doesn't love seeing a botch!? Come on, every single person here loves seeing people botch and Riley delivers that in spades.
