Is Ric Flair's mic skills overrated?

I'm not a Flair fan but he's very good on the mic. The stuff he did in TNA with Jay Lethal a couple of years ago proves how good he can be without a script, on the fly.

Dear God no...Flair was incredible on the mic, sure his act got old at times but he was awesome...Flair was someone who when I was younger and he was in his prime I didn't really like as much as I do now but looking back he was incredible and I wish as a younger kid I appreciated him more...amazing worker, amazing seller, great technical wrestler, great look, great charisma, etc etc

Weird thing for me is, I'll probably vote yes but I'm still thinking about it even though his WWE and TNA run were totally awesome. Maybe I just don't get it but whenever I hear his promos from the 80s or 90s I'm pretty much bored. I actually prefer his promos when he got past his prime far more than when he was still a ring competitor. I mean he got owned so bad on the mic by Steiner in WCW it became hilarious, it wasn't until he came to WWE where I started absolutely loving him.

But I'm not very well informed about pre 90s wrestling. Can maybe someone link youtube links to his promos in his 80s that were on par, or even better than his current stuff because I honestly have never seen an 80s Flair promo that I didn't get bored with. That said, I didn't watch too many either, because the 5-10 promos of him I saw from that period were far less convincing than what he's doing right now.

No. Ric Flair, Jake Roberts, Roddy Piper and Steve Austin are the only one who give me chills and for one second I believe wrestling is real and that they really hate their opponents

Not even slightly. He could sell a feud and put over himself and his opponent like no tomorrow.

He was so good on the mic, so confident, so cocky, he transcended wrestling and became the first cool heel.

He could do it all, screw around about space mountain and cutting some jokes, and then a moment later talk about the brutality of the match he's about to endure is.

Flair was perfect

No Foley?
Foley is God. But I mean this 4 wrestlers through their whole career. Foley did some stuff like Dude Love or face Mankind that were hilarious but far from reality

I never understand one word he said , Except the Woooooooooooooooooooooo part.
Is English not your first language?

Ric Flair is the great ever on the mic. Both in his general charisma and his ability to sell himself, his company, his opponent, his company, his match, etc.

He had the unique ability to put his opponent over on the mic without compromising his own status. On top of that, he's freaking fun! His late 90s WCW stuff was really, really fun.

You seem quite knowledgeable. As I said in my last posts I consider him to be one my the most charismatic figures AND mic workers in wrestling history, but to me this is ONLY due to his WWE and TNA promos, I was kinda bored with his WCW stuff, especially when he let himself get buried so easily and I never found a great 80s promo of him, but then again, I didn't watch more than 5-10 of them and I lost interest in this period of him quickly due to that. Could you maybe link me to some of his great earlier promos as I honestly simply found him very awkward back then, it's as if he is way better presenting his gimmick nowadays then when he was younger actually. I loved his matches, arguably the best storyteller of all time but no matter how hard I try I can't get into his pre WWE promos.

Maybe it's just having odd tastes in this case, dunno.
