Part of the reason wrestlers play politics is to prolong their spot on top but its also to point out managements flawed vision.

Vince McMahon felt that Warrior was a better choice to lead the WWE then Hogan - He was wrong
Vince also felt Diesel was a better Champ then Bret Hart, once again he was wrong.

DDP and Arquette tried to get Russo and the bookers to change their mind. They felt like it was gonna get them publicity and it did, though for the exact wrong reasons, so nothing was gonna change their minds about doing it.

Putting the belt on the Ultimate Warrior was not the wrong decision, that's absolute bullshit tbh. Not giving Warrior the full backing and having him in repetitive feuds whilst the focus remained on Hogan in the new fresh feuds, was what was wrong.

Hogan was getting older, his act was stale, he was part-time, wanted a break but didn't want to relinquish his spot, it was absolutely needed that McMahon sought a new, younger, fresher star to lead the company. Considering Warrior was rivalling Hogan's popularity at the time and no one else was even close then it was the obvious decision to make.

Stop with the revisionist history bullshit.

Warrior was the man after WM6...

Hogan went to feud with Earthquake

Problem is Warrior is a basket case who couldn't control the juice and skipped shows.

Hogan was a business man and reliable.

No one ever fired Hogan, every company he went to he stayed there for a long period of time, Japan always wanted him back.

Warrior on the other hand was only ever in the WWF had a brief stay in WCW. Then did that deal with Orlando Jordan in Europe.

You never found it weird that Warrior never did tours of Japan as a Free Agent?

You never found it weird that Warrior never went to WCW after WM 7 or that he didn't compete from 1992 to 1995?

No, I didn't find it weird. Warrior was not a wrestling fan & I'm sure had very little interest in flying half way round the world to make a dime, he was and still is a very rich man, he saved his money and didn't need to whore himself out to make a dollar like Hogan has to now. He only returned back to WWE several times after Linda McMahon begged him to, that should tell you the real story over the hack job of that DVD WWE tried to put out and have been grovelling ever since to put him in the HoF. That tells me enough.

Earthquake was the new monster heel, yes that is who Warrior should have been fighting, not Rick Rude in a feud that had been done to death a year before.

Hogan wanted to take a break back in 1990, he was trying to do his movie career, of course McMahon needed a new star and despite what hindsight might tell you, Warrior was the obvious and right choice. You can write a whole story on why it didn't work, but it wasn't the wrong decision at the time.

With how fucked up WCW was at that point I seriously doubt that it would of made that much of a difference either way. Russo was so hell bend on pushing what he considers his's own brand of "Sport's Entertainment" in WCW that he would of given the strap to any actor he thought would of drawn the company money no matter what.
