In argument for Rock/Austin IV at Wrestlemania 39 and How it should be done

The WWE should do Rock vs Austin IV(Really their like 10th or 11th 1 vs 1 match but strictly Wrestlemania here), at Wrestlemania 39.
Not The Rock vs Roman Reigns
Not Stone Cold vs John Cena
Let’s not waste any time, feel free to add to the argument or if you disagree explain why… let’s go…
1. This the biggest match they can possibly do.
Since Rock has returned to WWE in the last decade in 2011 and since Hulk Hogan is retired(thus a Rock/Hogan II or a Rock/Austin/Hogan triple threat is therefore not gonna happen…)
Rock/Austin at Wrestlemania is the biggest possible drawing match at Wrestlemania.
Neither a Rock vs Roman Reigns nor Stone Cold vs John Cena will draw as much as Rock vs Austin at Wrestlemania part IV.
You don’t wanna risk it and do those matches first as it risks injury and thus risks a Rock/Austin match. Look at what happened with Sting, they should’ve did Sting/Taker first and not risk it as they horribly did with his Triple H and Seth Rollins feuds
This is a business and you wanna do the biggest match possible… this is the biggest possible match.
Besides a Rock/Reigns or Austin/Cena storyline and match will not be as good in quality as a Rock/Austin storyline and match.
This isn’t even up for debate.
2. This is the era of Nostalgia.
Nostalgia is in and booming.
From Cobra Kai to Top Gun Maverick to Commercials(Ferris Bueller, Sopranos), to Skits(Back to the Future, Kenan & Kel reuniting), to Coming 2 America, to companies even rebranding in Nostalgia(See Burger King logo) etc etc
Nostalgia is making money. So not only would you have 2 biggest stars who can still wrestle but you have nostalgia as a draw.

How to do and commemorate a 4th Rock vs Austin Wrestlemania rivalry and match:

One of the best pre match video package of all time is the Wrestlemania 17 Rock vs Austin Limp Bizkit “My Way” pre match promo.
Have the pre match promo be in the same exact cut with Limp Bizkit’s “My Way” theme, just like how Top Gun: Maverick started just like the original Top Gun with Kenny Loggin’s “Dangerzone”
If you want to be original have Limp Bizkit/Fred Durst perform the song live on stage with highlights of the Rock/Austin rivalry playing in the background on the titantron.

Have them both as babyfaces, you wanna make this a babyface vs babyface match.

He should get the honor of ending his storyline and he would write the best feud they would have since their Backlash 1999(While their Wrestlemania 17 feud wasn’t bad, it wasn’t as good, did best PPV domestic numbers due to WCW purchase & stacked mega card, unlike Wrestlemania 15 where they were the only headline with only 170k less domestic ppv buys than 17, also Rock/Austin was more popular in 1999 with higher ratings), no one else has ever written the Rock/Austin as great nor as big as Vince Russo, he's the creator and best writer of the story, he should therefore be the one to end it.
4. Bill it as the finale/Erase the bad taste of their Wrestlemania 19 feud

Bill it as the Rock/Austin finale, unlike Wrestlemania 19 where Austin retired but it was never ever promoted as such, you can build this as Rock vs Austin last match ever.
Make this story better than the Wrestlemania 17 and 19 stories.
Wrestlemania 19 was a flat out horrible build and Wrestlemania 17 while not bad, was a downgrade in quality from their Wrestlemania 15 and Backlash 1999 build ups.
Build it in vein of their most popular rivalry, the 1999 one, and this time actually promote it as the finale(Unless for some reason there is still enough demand for yet another match)
5. Include Easter eggs
Have Easter eggs and continue storylines from the past rivalries.
Rock threw Austin off a bridge, Austin sprayed Rock with beer, Rock scared the shit outta Austin, Austin destroyed Rock's car, Rock turned corporate, Austin and Mcmahon teamed up against Rock etc etc bring it all up.

6. Cameo appearances
Have those involved in the past Rock/Austin rivalry involved in the build.
Characters such as Vince McMahon, Mankind/Mick Foley, Kurt Angle, Triple H, Stephanie Mcmahon, Shane Mcmahon, Gerald Brisco, Earl Hebner, Debra, D Lo Brown, Mark Henry, Farooq, Godfather, Hurricane etc were huge contributors to past Rock/Austin rivalries
You could even do scene with Austin and Debra making peace and moving on in vein of Johnny Lawrence and Ali Mills in Cobra Kai season 3 if they’re up for it(I doubt it but just throwing the idea out):

7. Bring back Jim Ross and Jerry The King Lawler to do commentary

No other commentary team commentated The Rock/Austin matches/rivalry better than Jim Ross and Jerry The King Lawler, not Michael Cole, Kevin Kelly, Paul Heyman, Tazz, etc
THE commentary team should be Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler, open the "forbidden door" if ya gotta get Ross back for one night.
8. Involve current guys
Complain that this takes away from new wrestlers?
While I personally don’t care for any of the current wrestlers, for neutrality/argument sake you can involve new guys into the story, I wouldn't, but in case there's an argument for current gen there ya go.

I initially said no to your idea in favour of Rock vs Reigns but you have convinced me that Rock vs Austin 4 is the way to go.
Rock vs Reigns would be a first time match up but the storyline wouldn’t be as good, the storyline would just be Rock passing the torch to Reigns which would be boring and Reigns being dethroned by The Rock would suck. Roman Reigns needs to be defeated by a current roster superstar.
Cena vs Austin is null and void. The match up would have been best when Cena was still a full time WWE Superstar but he’s not anymore so it would suck. Cena already had his big dream match with The Rock twice another dream match wouldn’t be as impactful.
Austin vs Rock 4 on the other hand sounds awesome. It would be a great match and great storyline.

If you look at the age of WWE viewers, 45% of them werent even born during the attitude era.
So half the audience probably know Rock primarily from Hollywood and have only seen Stone Cold wrestle once last year.
And the match would be a trainwreck. Austin cant bump. And 50 year old Rock cant, and probably isnt allowed, to bump around like crazy for Austin, to sell his offense. Rock has put in a lot of muscle, and a lot of mileage on his body since he wrestled Cena a decade ago. No way he makes it out of that match injury free.
The best course of action would be to pair them up against a couple of arrogant heels, who can bump like crazy and sell their offense in a short 10 minute tag match.

Rock vs Austin is such a worthless mark match between two old washed up farts that already did that match.
Gotta do Roman and Rock because it was being built for the last few years with the belief it was gonna happen.

I don’t think Rock/Austin is a bigger match than Rock/Roman in 2022/2023. I think Rock or Austin alone brings the lapsed fanbase, while Roman brings your sustainable current audience.
Not that it really matters, since they’re doing it at Mania and will draw a significant amount of both of these fanbases regardless of the card.

Nobody cares about Limp Bizkit even for nostalgic reasons. They're one of the most hated bands next to ICP and Nickleback. Cobra Kai is about two guys stuck in the past. Austin and Rock have shown in kayfabe to be completely fine with each other. Debra and the WWE aren't on the best of terms either. With the WWE being PG Austin and Rock would be watered down versions of themselves. I can’t believe you typed that much for such an awful idea.
Neither one can carry the other through a decent match and absolutely nothing is achieved if they face each other vs using both in separate matches to push current talent.

It would be funny to see the looks on kids faces in the audience wondering who the hell Limp Bizkit is. While the adults boo the hell out of them. Maybe Orton can return to his legend killer gimmick and wrestle Mr.T to avenge his father.

A+ for effort but there's no way this should happen. The reaction of people who like wrestling will be that they don't want to see it because they want to see younger guys, people who don't watch wrestling but know that they used to be wrestlers will be laughing at the fact they're still doing Rock and Austin 20 years later.
You've got Rock and Austin available, great, use them, The Rock puts Reigns over, Austin fights CM Punk, or if you can't get him someone like Seth Rollins or Cody Rhodes, someone who will actually be an active wrestler in the future.

So I'm intrigued by a Rock/Austin match - the problem is I can't envision a scenario where they manage to pull off a story that's believable and makes you care.
Rock/Austin only ever worked because they hated each other so much. Rock mocked Austin, vice versa, they attacked each other, etc. Without that heat, there's nothing.
Rock is the biggest actor in hollywood. Why does he come back? It's easy to envision a story where heel Roman Reigns - jealous that despite his accolades is looked at beneath Rock - viscously attacks Rock. And so Rock comes out of hollywood for one more match for revenge. The story is ridiculously obvious and believable.
Why do Austin or Rock come back? Are we to believe Austin cares enough to challenge Rock 20 years later because he lost in 2003?
Come up with a creative story and I'm all for this match, but I don't think it's that obvious. There's also the fact that both are way older/out of wrestling shape. It's one thing for Austin to look good with Kevin Owens carrying him. With both facing each other, they both have to carry the match, and it could lead to a very botchy affair.

It's easy to envision a story where heel Roman Reigns - jealous that despite his accolades is looked at beneath Rock - viscously attacks Rock. And so Rock comes out of hollywood for one more match for revenge. The story is ridiculously obvious and believable.
Why do Austin or Rock come back? Are we to believe Austin cares enough to challenge Rock 20 years later because he lost in 2003?
Come up with a creative story and I'm all for this match, but I don't think it's that obvious. There's also the fact that both are way older/out of wrestling shape. It's one thing for Austin to look good with Kevin Owens carrying him. With both facing each other, they both have to carry the match, and it could lead to a very botchy affair.
