I'm sorry, but why is AJ a face?

I know a lot of people get annoyed by her, but the truth is that I don't necessarily dislike AJ at all. But what has angered me for ages is why they treat her like a babyface.

At the time of her rise to prominence, she interacted with Punk, Kane and Bryan.
Punk and Kane were mostly faces and Bryan was a tweener, verging on being a face by sheer virtue of his reactions.

Yet the AJ character used each of these men, threw them away and was rewarded with the GM posistion. And now we're supposed to cheer her?

Can someone please explain how she is considered a face? Because every time she comes out smiling and pandering to the crowd, it pisses me off because it makes no sense given her characters previous actions.

Oh, and green rep for the first person to reply with 'It's still real to you, damn it.'
Because that joke never gets old.

It's still real to you, damn it :cool2

 You dont dislike AJ?? LOL
To me shes one of the most annoying things in WWE know K2 is gone. i dont care if they changed her heel it still wouldnt make her a good actress. the overracting is way to much and the head thing she does that makes her seem like she has a neck problem isnt cool.

Know thats cleared up LOL shes face because she skips around the ring and...............because WWE says she is God Damnit.

Man, this board quickly turned on AJ. The majority was screaming that she was the greatest diva of all time. Fast forward two weeks and they have pitchforks.

The character's annoying for the sake of being annoying now. Plus, as the OP points out (and a lot of others have previously) she's quite unlikeable based on her actions/speaking alone like the majority of face characters are.

AJ would've made a good heel combo with D-Bry but he's doing other things now. They really dropped the ball on her after the love triangle fallout. It's another case of the company just throwing someone into a role and thinking it will sort itself out as it would surely protect the performer. Problem is that the character's shortcomings starts to undermine the role's integrity such as Dolph Ziggler getting battered around while holding the briefcase (hell, I'd say their handling of the 98% of MITB winners since RVD).

Punk was a face. Daniel Bryan was a heel. Kane was still a heel througout the storyline and didn't really turn face until RAW 1000 when he and Undertaker had the short reunion.

AJ went crazy because the heel Bryan dumped her. Vince gave her the GM position because he's evil and wants to watch a good train wreck. The Anger Management storyline started out as a way for the face AJ to get revenge on Bryan and give him his comeuppance. But what ended up happening is that people thought the Anger Management skits were "awesome" and "funny", and now Bryan is forced into almost being face, despite getting over as a heel character.
She's the personification of female empowerment. Strong, sexy and powerful. Girls look up to her. Even after Punk hints at AJ being a crazed stalker who wantonly fixated on him and left steamy voice messages and sending racy texts. This is the role model of gals in 2012.

Yeah, things are fucked up now. But what can you do?

Many a male has screwed up to help get us here. Daniel Bryan fits that role in AJ's character trajectory.
I'm an AJ fan myself, she certainly is the best diva on the mic currently and her geeky charm resonates with me a lot. That being said I think her as a face is moronic. She has quite a vicious streak.

I think she is a tweener though. Not a full blown heel due to her two natured persona. she can be the lovely 'girl next door' type and next minute go crazy on you. I like that you don't really know where she lies on the spectrum, she dances around and leaves you guessing (unlike Alicia Fox who literally cannot decide whether she is face or heel-useless moron).

Her current storyline is interesting actually, she has been sleeping with Punk. will she eventually side with punk? I'd like to see them become a power couple, it would be an interesting dynamic and this would also result in a full blown heel turn for AJ. WWE.com had articles relating to her relationship with punk and if you haven't seen her latest photo shoot then go see it, I think her crazy gimmick that has reseeded a little is making a comeback and hopefully with it we will see her turn heel.

they did the right thing, letting it die down a bit. now they can bring it back without the fans feeling like thats all they've gotten, a one dimensional AJ.

also, if you haven't realised she has been the catalyst for many of the stories over the last few months, most notably team hellno!/friendship which is one of my favourite things each week.

I thought it worked great in the love-triangle, but there's next to no dynamism anymore. There was a inkling of it in that short feud with Vickie but it appears as though they've dropped it (which a lot of us are very happy about, make no mistake). Irregardless, it's something that's needed to give her character a reason for doing the stuff she does: purpose. Over the past few weeks, her involvement basically comprises of making matches-which smarks are always quick to point out are 'predictable'- while carrying on with that irritating schtick of skipping and bobbing her head around like she belongs on my dashboard. Guys in particular don't find it charming or quirky; they find it annoying, like that bratty little girl on the train staring back at you.

That 'guessing' aspect was a lot more inspired in that three-way dance, now it's distracting and annoying. It'll get to the point where many now-aloof people will get sick of her 'interfering' in segments. She'll probably always have the wolf-whistles follow her, though, which may stem a lot of hatred that'll come her way. I personally don't get the infatuation but it'll be beneficial to her at least.

Haha, that's very true. Although people now have to put up with this current AJ as an individual authority character. No want.

Despite all that, I'm still an optimist. Hopefully they cut back on the silly traits and focus on something a more compelling where that character can be used for something.

She is annoying, I have to turn the channel. Ugly bitch.
I think she will turn heel after she is 'fired'

even though AJ is a face now its nothing like Booker T as GM. he is the ultimate baby-face GM.
In today's society,Booing girls like AJ makes you a misogynist.
i don't know whats up with this Aj hate. Wow you're so cool and original, hating on yet another superstar/diva that gets spotlight  I find no difference between AJ from now and AJ back then, still just as entertaining for me. She has an great character and the fans are behind her now, when was the last time that happened with a diva?

Oh and all these people saying she is a no talent annoying hoe, are the same people that said this for the likes of Trish Stratus and Lita once, only to start calling them 'One of the greatest divas of all time' after their careers were over. So yeah, i hope they keep pushing AJ and ignore the IWC hate which is inevitable.

Geeks were wanting a heel power couple with Uncle D-Bry for many months and it didn't happen. Why would they suddenly do the exact same angle with CM Punk who is already married to Paul Heyman who is legitimately 27000 times better in getting Punk over as a big time main event heel? Only idiotic shipperfags would BELIEVE that because they aren't paying Heyman a full-time contract only to lessen his role by attaching a much less capable AJ playing keychain to CM Punk. She'd best fuck off to the Divas Division to see if:

a) See if she can sustain any momentum without needing to feed main eventers to her every week to keep her strong with the casuals to see if she truly has any lasting power. I.E The Silence of the Eve Torres Gracie
b) Have a designated AJ segment where her marks can either fap furiously live or record and make gifs and screenshots to save to their hard drives for the 3 minutes of camera angle manipulation she's on, and have everyone else do what they always do for divas matches. Switch to something else.

Who cares?

I don't even know which of the women are faces or heels because I don't watch them. They're all boring, talentless, and do absolutely nothing for the company. I have no idea why any of them are even employed other than to meet the federally mandated equality of sexes laws.

AJ, face, heel, tweener it will make no difference.
she will turn heel & join Heyman/Punk mark my words!

I wouldn't be surprised if this happens once she gets 'fired'

I am no Punk fan but putting her in a storyline with him is better being stuck with Bryan again. Even though I think their tag team is alright, I am waiting for the day Kane gets away from him as well. Than we'll see what Vince does with Bryan.
AJ is not talentless. she is great on the mic (ok not THE greatest, but she has what it takes to get by, she has better mic skills than some of the men). She has been neutered a little, i'll admit but i'm starting to think that the male portion of the IWC don't want to see any promise in the women when AJ in both wrestling ability (NXT and FCW will show you) and on the mic surpasses most on the current divas roster. she was actually trained to be a wrestler for one thing, she went to wrestling school and wasn't picked out of a model catalog.

also, she isn't ugly...unless you like your women to be blonde big breasted bimbos...ughh no thanks, they make good floatation devices but are useless beyond that. also inb4 pedophile jokes, shes 25 ladies and gentlemen.

sometimes I feel that the IWC complain for the sake of complaining and nothing is ever good enough because you have nostalgia goggles on. She is good, she has a love for the industry and she plays her character well. show credit where credit is due.

People really need to learn what tweeners are. D-Bry was not a tweener during the angle with AJ & Punk, AJ isn't a tweener now. The thing with her now is that everything that made her character work during that angle doesn't work for her being an authority figure (which is why I objected to her ever getting the position to begin with).

Plus, WWE just books their faces terribly. Sheamus and Cena are hypocritical condescending bullies yet we're supposed to cheer them because we're being told ADR and Punk are bad guys.
