I'm not sure if there is a thread for the Almighty Sayan Sheamus but hell, let's give him one. I've sat through months of watching Sheamus as champion and I'm still trying to figure out why WWE pushes him. I know supposedly he and Triple H are "friends" like really "good friends" but he is kind of boring on the mic. He basically makes crummy jokes then says "Im Going to Kick your Arse" hence the name of the topic. Just discuss Sheamus here. Tell people what you think of him..etc.

Sheamus probably works his arse off; pun intended. What happens in front of the cameras isn't the only factor in whether or not someone gets pushed. It's a combination of things, and I'd be willing to bet that locker room reputation and earnestness are two huge components. Sheamus might be corny to you, and to a lot of other older folks who spend time on forums, but his character works for kids. I have a good feeling that if you knew Sheamus on a personal level, and knew how much work he puts into being a main event level talent, you'd be singing a different tune. This is coming from someone who isn't even a huge fan of his, but I think he's far from a slouch, and attributing his success to his relationship with Triple H is probably a slap in the face.

As well it should be, he's trash. I mean, come on, the guy's been here for 2 and a half years and he's already gotten every single high profile accomplishment in the company, 2 WWE titles (the SECOND he walked onto Raw at that), 1 world title, Royal Rumble, KOTR, etc. Even Cena, Batista and Orton didn't get pushed like that. There comes a point where you have to wake up and realize what's going on. He's a mediocre talent and that's putting it lightly, no excuse to be pushed like this. He's not even that over considering what he's gotten.

Sheamus has an unique look, moves well for his size, puts on great matches, and is generally likable on screen. I do miss his random family stories though. Sure, they were odd and often pointless, but I found them entertaining. They gave him some character, a lot more character than "I kick arse."

He's awesome and the only thing I didn't like was the WM match with Bryan. But That's beyond his control.

I wasn't against Sheamus winning, I just hated the squash. I've been a big fan of Sheamus ever since his debut. He can wrestle, he's tough, he always seems to have a good match and he's got a unique look. You want mic skills? Watch the movies. Look for cute one liners there. In wrestling, all you need is the ability to wrestle and be able to connect with the crowd and from what I can see Sheamus has both. He doesn't make a bad face, but he does makes a great heel. Which is why I think Sheamus should have a heel turn soon.

And :lmao at Wade Barrett fans calling out Sheamus for getting pushed because a higher up liked him. I suppose Wade Barrett didn't get that big Nexus push in his first 4 months or so in WWE because somebody backstage liked him? Nice logic there.

I just have to say. I love how he's being called a sayan now because the term "super" isn't good enough.

I don't like him but if you've read any of my other posts, you know that. I'd much rather see Alberto Del Rio with the title and I'm not even a fan of his.

Oh great another Sheamus bashing thread:rolleyes:

He was at his best as a heel and all the way, up until Surivor Series last year. However I believe his booking is what caused his downfall. before Royal Rumble Sheamus didn't do anything except sqash jobbers, then he wins the Rumble and goes on the have a boring fued with Daniel Bryan which results in an 18 second win at Wrestlmania. After that Sheamus is booked as a new superman type and is constantly portrayed as such which I believe is the reason why people hate him now.

WWE should booked Sheamus the same way they booked him during the early part of his face run. Someone who takes no crap and just brogue kicks people. No need to make him a superman, but just keep him strong like all the other main event faces. As well as that, maybe a proper storyline would be good for Sheamus, something that can get the fans interested in the World Heavyweight Championship.

It's not hard to work out why he's being pushed, as Tyrion outlined. He's average in every respect: he gets gassed really quickly in matches and has to be carried and absolutely SUCKS on the mic. Sure, he gets a reaction but only because he's been pushed relentlessly and been handed everything on a plate.

Who the fuck likes Barrett? Wade Barrett has gotten NOTHING in WWE. He hasn't accomplished a god damn thing, the so called "push" was utterly pointless and he got buried six feet deep at the end of it. That was nothing but an angle to keep Cena busy and out of the title picture.

And the difference is, Barrett is actually good, so if by some miracle he ever does get a real push with a world title payoff (he won't), he'll deserve it.

I enjoy face Sheamus for the sole fact that he is just a fighting champion. He is very passionate in all his PPV matches and most of his matches in general and you can tell he likes being a face more then a heel by just the way he connects with the crowd with his moves. Though we haven't had many exciting story lines with him, I enjoy him as champion but I could see him lose it to Del Rio next PPV and then Ziggler cashes it in on Del Rio. Del Rio has had so many chances, he is bound to beat Sheamus eventually. To be honest, I don't think he deserves all the hate he gets but everyone has a different opinion on different wrestlers.

I'm no Barrett fan, but he's far superior to Sheamus. He actually carried a massive angle, remained interesting throughout and got really over doing so, two of which I'm not sure Sheamus will ever be able to achieve. He's just horrifically dull, whether it's his predictable matches or ridiculous promos.

he probably had one good heel moment on SD. That was in the ring when he cut a promo on Orton. The best part also when he was heel was whenever he walked he didn't smile like a fucking clown.

First off, I really don't like Sheamus lacklustre character/direction right now, although he may grow on me. I liked him when he first turned face. I prefered his overall character better with his FCW stuff that I rewatched recently. Anyhow.

As for my opinion on him:

Sheamus is and will continue to be, one of the big main eventers in the company. I believe he is being moulded to be a Cena replacement.

First, lets just get an overview of his talents.

Mic Work

Not too bad at all. He has delivery, presence and confidence. His "arse" jokes are pretty poor, but then again all babyface "comedy" has been terrible recently. He never messes up his lines and easily gets the point across. Plus it is nice to hear the Irish accent.

Ring Work

Good.

Positives- He has a nice brawler style, and can work a match really well. He has quite a nice moveset for his build too. Having 3 finishers is also very good, it allows for mix and match.

Negatives- He needs to sell more, and his quick kick-outs at 1 second were a pet peeve of mine. The other thing is his cardio, it does affect him at times, it needs to improve

Charisma

Sheamus has charisma about him. He generated heat as a heel and cheers as a face.

Now for things that change and what he has done

Heel Run

It would be stupid to say he was not pushed to the top instantly. His first WWE Title win was crazily fast and unexpected. From there he entered feuds with high names in Randy Orton and John Cena. They were quite good, because Sheamus makes a good heel.

He then had his feud with HHH. He was made look strong at Mania and HHH did a good job at putting him over at Extreme Rules.

He then won the WWE title again. He lost it after matches with Cena and Orton, again.

Overall opinion: Was a rushed run, but it was okay. Sheamus did strugle to get over, but that eventually was fine too. Going against Triple H did wonders. He was quite interesting as a heel, although he instant push left a sour taste in alot of people.

Midcarding

He won KOTR too. I was not fond of him as King Sheamus, but he did make a good US Champion.

Face Run

This is where he came into the most prevalence in his career, at least fan wise rather than card wise.

He stood up to the mega heel Mark Henry, turning face easily. From here we saw him in a beatdown match. He then went on the squash jobbers, a random Christian feud, then more jobbers. Despite how this was so random, he got very over with the fans.

From here we saw him win the Rumble and feud with Bryan. Interestingly enough, Henrys injury was the biggest curse for Sheamus while it was the biggest blessing for Bryan. Bryan managed to get incredibly over after the cash-in and squash at WrestleMania. Whereas Sheamus' overness waned over the months after the Rumble and weeks after Mania. Fortunatly, a great match at ER saved him from total loss.

Now he has been feuding with Del Rio, which is quite boring.

Overall Opinion: Good, but could have been much better, Sheamus would have gotten alot more over had he faced Henry at mania, but these things happen. His super-booking (far more than anyone right now) is fitting for what WWE are trying to do.

What I hope to see in the future

Sheamus continuing to be pushed. He has all the ability and drive to do things. Plus he has been pushed so much now, they really should continue it to get a return on the investment. Although, I would like more interesting feuds. Perhaps a returning Henry or Orton or Barrett can help him out with that. The only person I see beating him for the title right now is actually Ziggler, assuming WWE are not going to do a double failure of cashing in this year. We will just and wait and see, Sheamus is good, but there is room for improvement, alot of that improvement depending on creative.
