Hall or Nash. The plan all along (according to Nash anyway) is that the nWo would go over both Rock and Austin at WrestleMania and continue feuding 3-on-2 throughout the summer. Those plans, however, got nixed when Hogan kept getting face pops and they decided instead to job out the nWo at WrestleMania and turn Hogan face. Plus, Austin didn't want to fight Hogan, which is the reason the match never happened in the first place. Ironically, he left the company largely because he felt like he wasn't used prominently enough by facing Hall at WrestleMania.

austin was never supposed to face hogan at wm 18, it's just one of those false rumors that alot of stone cold fans decided was a fact. The original plan (i saw this in a shoot interview with scott hall) was for hall to go over austin and rock go over hogan but the nwo would come down at the end and beat down the rock and the show would end with hall nash and hogan standing in the ring. FACT

To be perfectly honest, I felt like Austin's character was severely damaged by the stupid heel turn in 2001 and he never quite recovered from it. Rock was still red hot and, IMO, the more suitable choice for an Icon Vs. Icon match with Hogan in 2002, given the two choices.

That said, if it had been Austin/Hogan, maybe Rock could/would have been put up against Scott Hall like Austin was. Who knows?

Kane & Undertaker facing Hall & Nash would've been awesome. Austin could've faced the Rock and the main event could've been Kurt Angle, Triple H, Chris Jericho & The Rock for the WWF Championship in a fatal 4 way.

this Austin was not over after they turned him back to a face at the end of the Invasion angle. He had the What chant but he was'nt 98 Stone Cold he was 2002 beat down hurting Stone Cold. But the right choice was to have Rock/Hogan maybe if they didnt screw around with the Austin character in 2001 then maybe they could of done Hogan/Austin but who knows

Jericho beat The Rock at those two ppv's. It would actually make sense for them to end their rivalry at WM 18.

As mentioned before, a triple threat match with rocky, trips and jericho would have been a good idea. I think it was very rare apart from Mania 2000, for the wwf to have more than 2 wrestlers in a championship match at Mania.
