It's really a tie between Hogan and Austin since they are two of the biggest wrestling stars ever. Hulk Hogan was the WWE back in the 80s, while Austin was the attitude era. Steve Austin is the better wrestler by miles, so I'd probably say, it's Austin. But you can't go wrong picking either.

The question is who's the biggest superstar though. And Hogan blows every single person out of the water. Like him or not, he is the biggest thing pro-wrestling has and ever will see. Everyone could say "he's that wrestler" if you ask them who Hulk Hogan is. In terms of popularity, Hogan was on par with some of the greatest sporting personalities and no one will ever be able to eclipse that. The only people who had any chance of coming close were The Rock and Brock Lesnar due to their respective ventures into movies or MMA, but they've not even hit 10% of the world-wide popularity that Hogan had in the 80's and early 90's. Lesnar has more of a chance because of how MMA and more specifically UFC is expanding at a drastic rate.
Sure, any wrestling fan can tell you how good and how famous people like Austin, HBK and Undertaker are, but they are still nothing to an average joe on the street. Hulk Hogan was simply on another level when it came to popularity in his prime.

Stone Cold Steve Austin is a pop cultrue Icon as is hulk hogan.
I think people underestimate the knowledge of mainstream America. Understand SCSA was the face of WWE during its most watched era in history. There is no question he is well known beyond wrestling.

Personally i'd go with Hogan, but only by a fine margin. This is because he led both WWF and WCW during there hight's in popularity.

in my view "Stone cold Steve Austin" is the biggest superstar.
i know some will say that "Hogan made wrestling" but dude he nearly "Killed" it.(WCW)

Austin all day long for me. Such a great all round entertainer brilliant on the Mic, an absolute bad ass in the ring. The way the crowd pops when he comes in tells its own story

100% agree with you. Hogan does deserve respect for what he did in the WWF and WCW (even though people partly blame him for bringing that company down) It makes me sad watching Hogan in TNA now

Ask any non devoted wrestling fan to name a wrestler from WWE/WWF and I would imagine more than half the time they would name Hogan. No doubt!

HBK is the greatest performer, entertainer, and superstar IMO. Unless you mean greatest superstar in terms of drawing money, then I would have to say Stone Cold as well.
