You're in the minority I'm sure. Wrestlemania needs to get better looking at this point, not give me more reasons not to order. I've ordered every Mania for nearly the past ten years. The past three have been lackluster for the price, and with the price hike in HD, it's harder and harder for me to justify a purchase. I love King, but wrestling for the title at the biggest event of the year? Are you kidding me? Add that to the otherwise lacking card pending and I'm skipping Mania this year and looking at porn for four hours before the torrent is available.

It's a possibility. I could see it happening honestly. The way they're booking Cena and Lawler right now it's not out the question. Cena helped Lawler win the Raw Rumble and this past Monday Lawler gave Cena the chair to fight off Nexus. Lawler wins the belt at EC and Cena becomes the number 1 contender and they're forced to have a match at Wrestlemania. Hey it's a possibility.

I will refuse to buy wrestlemania at this rate. I usually just buy for the sake of buying when it comes to PPV's but Wrestlemania already looks like it is gonna suck so badly. Lawler should not be in the wwe title match. He never got to the title match in his prime, so why does he deserve it in his retirement?

A lot of deserving wrestlers never got the WWE title, so I will hate it if Lawler wins. Just no.

Hindsight 20/20 and all but Im telling you Lawler/Hart at WM 11 would've been huge. Jerry Lawler used to draw some huge heat for ripping on Bret Hart. Too bad that didn't happen. Certainly wouldve been better than that throwaway submission match Bret had with Bob Backlund.

I think it's going to be Lawler and Cole in some sort of gimmick match. I would rather see Lawler have a real match. Actually what would be better is for Lawler to be in MITB if they have one this year. Wouldn't be the first time you had an old man in MITB.

Excellent point! It would also be awesome to see a triple threat of cena vs miz vs lawler(champ) or fatal four way of cena vs miz vs orton vs lawler(champ).

The Miz is having trouble staying over. It may seem impossible here on the internet, but the majority of fans would rather see Lawler as champion than Miz. Just like the majority of fans would've rather seen Santino win the 'Rumble than Del Rio.

No, it's not because they're stupid and can't think for themselves - it's because they're not buying what WWE is trying to shove down their throats. The mid-card looks stronger than the main event at this point, and that's why Jerry Lawler, of all people, actually has a believable shot at being WWE Champion, and Santino, of all characters, had a legitimate shot of winning the 'Rumble.

Sad times we're in.

That being said, would Lawler vs. Cena be the better option?

In terms of giving the young guy the shot, absolutely not. In terms of an actual feud happening, obviously not, because controversy sells more than a feud based on respect. In terms of match quality, absolutely. In terms of the "WrestleMania moment"? You betcha'.

I'd honestly be more interested in a Lawler vs. Cena match, but that's only because Miz is so damn unbelievable in the main event. The added "old school" vibe of Lawler vs. Cena would certainly beat out the "Monday Night RAW" vibe of Miz vs. Cena, as well.

What's the point of this post? Well, it's to make people realize just how valid this match is nowadays in the eyes of fans. WWE are the only ones to blame for such poor conditioning and de-valuing of their main event scene.

Miz isn't believable as champion because the guys he's faceing are twice his size. Plus, Miz can't wrestle a convincing match, so he has nothing. However, his match is bound to be better then Orton/HHH at WM was....

I think that Lawler may well win the belt at EC. But, if he does, I expect Miz to win it back the following night (or possibly the Raw after) with the help of Cole, using his rematch clause.

Miz could be a good champion, his booking is just crappy. It's not like he was just thrust into having the title. He worked his way up the old school way in WWE by having other championships first to build his credibility. Sure, he cashed in his MITB and won the belt from a battered Orton, but how else would he have done it that would have been realistic for his heel character? Miz deserves the title. He deserves his main event spot and shouldn't drop the WWE title to King of all people. Him getting a shot at EC is one thing.. and even I think that's too far. Winning and going on to Mania is too damn much. If the card was shaping up to be better, then I wouldn't see the harm in doing so at all. WWE can't afford to throw a 50-something year old man who most fans remember for screaming "puppies!!" a decade ago into the main event against Cena.

The crowd loves Jerry. But WWE champion? Ugh. Only if he wins it at EC, then drops it to vacate it going into Mania for Miz and Cena to fight over. That way, if Miz wins he can finally say he earned it to shut up his haters.

wrestlemania is the one PPV i actually buy every year but if miz is anywhere near the main event, no chance in hell. I would rather see lawler vs cena.

Pretty debatable point, especially when you consider how bad he's been as champion. And no, I'm not talking about his booking. I'm talking about how his performance. The booking he's been given, quite frankly, is appropriate for the quality of performances that he's put out.

WWE can't afford to throw a 50-something year old man who most fans remember for screaming "puppies!!" a decade ago into the main event against Cena.

They can afford it much more than they could afford putting someone who nobody outside of the IWC cares about in the main event. Lawler vs. Cena would generate a legitimate buzz. Miz vs. Cena is going to be a Monday Night RAW match on the biggest show of the year. "Most fans" may or may not remember Lawler for that, but "most fans" have made Lawler one of the most over people in the company. Those same fans aren't affording Miz the same luxury.

I guess I'm in the minority, but I like Miz, I like his matches and I am convinced that the only reason Miz is fighting Lawler is a virtual free pass to Mania.

At this point, Lawler is at least as good as Miz in the ring and he's more over. I hope they run with it.

they will definitely not be getting my hard earned money for that. sure king is a veteran there, but he was never nowhere near the kind of a star that bret hart or stone cold was. He was mid card then mid card or less now.
