I used to think The Miz had a great character alongside charisma and mic. But he failed only in his in-ring performing, I thought. But thinking about it... While R-Truth, Cody Rhodes or Alberto del Río have real gimmicks and defined characters, The Miz is nothing more than the archetypical WWE heel: an arrogant, cocky and coward loudmouth guy. His character has nothing special. It is true that he can get a great amount of heat because his good mic skills and his douchebag's aura, but still his character lacks something more original or definying.

Since when Cody Rhodes has a defined character?

Isn't "Mexican Aristocrat" a gimmick? Isn't his entrance, his promos, etc... based in his gimmick?
its not a strong gimmick he should use the money to buy the title, guy is a fantastic wrestler but he is not engaging as a character because it lacks depth.Miz has a gimmick of being an arrogant douche which is pretty simple but he pulls it off like a pro.

Del Rio... rich Mexican. Cody Rhodes... vain psycho.

Miz... reality star/social media whore and meme trend setter? I agree if Miz is going to be the megastar everyone wants him to be then he should go a bit further into his character. There's just no "hook" to him right now.

Miz is one of those characters that just doesn't/never will appeal to me personally.

For one thing, his promo style feels like a cheap 'Rock' knockoff. I can't stand the 'I'm Awesome' shtick.
Secondly, a Hollywood B-lister and media whore character draws my ire in a similar vein to Brittany Spears or Bieber.

That said, having characters I dislike adds to the programming for me. Why? Cuz I wanna see the Miz get his ass kicked. I also appreciate the hard work and progress Mike Mizanin has made through his perseverance. His success is commendable.

Um yea, actually.

His gimmick is hotshot reality star/douchebag. He's like that jock from the 80's teen movie that everybody hates.

I think he needs to keep playing on the fact that he does tons of media and appearances for the WWE when bragging about his value to the company.

I have really enjoyed the Miz, and I would call myself a fan, but to be honest I think Truth entirely owershadowed him in Awesome Truth. His chemistry with Riley was much better for him.

Miz seemed out of place during their entrance, and his parts of the promos were more awkward. In ring it was close imo, but for example in the Cena/Rock match Truth was much more electrifying.

Once the conspiracy side of the story died down, Miz's character suffered for not attacking Truth earlier, imo, although having the titles could have changed this.

I just can't buy the Miz as someone that should be wrestling as high up the card as he is, he doesn't have the look of someone that should be a top heel in the WWE. To be fair to him he is very good on the Mic (I'm not too impressed with his in ring ability but thats just my opinion) but I look at certain wrestlers on the roster like Ziggler and think that he should be feuding with the top faces in the company instead

Miz's Character has more Depth then most other characters in Wrestling

He is an egotistical heel, but he also has a a massive inferiority complex, That's why so many of his promos were about him being so proud that he made it when every one said he couldn't.

His Catchphrase is the Miz proclaiming he is awesome, its more then just an egotistical boast he is also trying to make himself believe it. this also ties into why he wears the nice cloths and goes on about any media appearance make. in the "characters mind" he is trying to buy into his own Hype.

I kind of agree with you on that. Truth did overshadow Miz. They came out to Truth's music and Truth was allowed to keep his same character while Miz was forced to make changes to his, although past beatdowns on Cena and Riley proved that Miz was capable of playing crazy to an extent.

The problem was that Miz/Truth were paired solely for the conspiracy storyline to keep both of them relevant after Cena moved on to Punk and Riley moved on to feuding with Vickie's boys. Once they had feuded with everyone they felt had been overshadowing them (HHH/Punk/Cena/Rock), there wasn't really much left for them to do.

From a character perspective, it would've made more sense for Truth to be the one to turn on Miz. With all of Truth's talk about conspiracies, he should have attacked the D-Lister media whore in a jealous rage. Even if Truth were the one being Wellness'd, he could've just hit his finisher on Miz, said "I'm done with you" and walked off into the sunset for 30 days, and his "punishment" could be putting Miz over as a face (the same way that Morrison put over heel Truth).

And like you said, Riley and Miz's chemistry was a bit better. And Truth returning as a heel could've been used to rebuild Riley (although Truth would still be too high up to job to the kid) and facilitate a Miz/Riley reunion as faces.
