I think, IF IT WERE POSSIBLE (and believe me I doubt very much it is, that ome new up rising star who hasn't even wrestled at Mania yet, beats the Undertaker, and then Undertaker disappears never to return to wrestling again, and the wrestler that beats him goes on to win in Wrestlemanias from that point on, forming his own streak. Eventually it could even rival the undertakers.

the problems I realize are finding someone that will remain with the compan that long who they can trust from the beginning. It's a dream of mine though I think it would be epic as shit.

Re: I have actually thought of a situation where I wouldn't mind if taker lost at man

A streak like the Undertaker's is once in a lifetime. 18-0 will never be rivaled again IMO. With the way they book their talent and the spontanious jumps from company to company of their superstars; I find it very unlikely. Although I agree, that'd be the best way to do it, pass the WrestleMania torch.

Takers not losing. Holy jesus. fpalm
Nobody said he was, the OP was just throwing out the one situation that wouldn't cause him to be pissed off about it fpalm fpalm fpalm

The problem is that if WWE do pick someone to end it, they're committed to pushing that guy for years. It won't be like giving someone the title via MITB, this one really matters in most fans eyes and if they pick the wrong guy then they'll turn on him. That forces WWE to pick someone who's proven already and that leaves the OP's idea dead.

i dont think it will work. For 18 years, undertaker has had the greatest win record at WM. If they chose someone like that to end it, people would boo the guy, making him a heel forever. the streak is one of the things that makes taker the ultimate face.

There is only person who should end the streak, and that's Kane. And I don't really want to see a THIRD Taker vs. Kane match, so that one's out the window.

It's gotta be Brodus Clay.

i'd only be comfortable with him losing to Shawn at Mania, and they already did the match twice and Shawn lost both times. Let him stay undefeated and possibly end the stream at 20 next year if he can hold up.

For people like me it helps he stays undefeated since i can barely remember any times Taker has long anyway..i know he's lost plenty of matches but i really havent seen them outside of the recent losses.

I've never understood all of this Steak hoopla! Has taker ever won a buried alive match?
He loses so many other matches every other night of the year, so why all the fuss around one night at wrestlemania?
I would understand if Wrestlemania was as amazing as it used to be, but we all know that's hardly the case.

The whole point is that on this one night a year things are special and Taker puts on his A-game just like everyone else in the WWE does.

I would say Wrestlemanias only gotten more amazing as the years have gone on. It's become a bigger spectacle, the work rate has become better. obviously there are a few exceptions like Mania 17 and 19, for the most part I'd say recent wrestlemanias > Older ones

Most people don't like 20 years in the WWE, much less 20 years in wrestling. Don't count on it.

I'd love for Taker to retire with 20-0, but breaking the streak is too big of a heat opportunity to pass up. I guess some newcomer should do it, and then be set for his career as a heel, but it would look retarded... I don't know, it's not an easy question.

The OP makes a decent point, but something like the streak has to happen organically. No one even mentioned Undertaker's streak until he was about to go 13-0 (against Orton at WrestleMania 21). He benefited from having a bunch of soft opponents early on (an aged Snuka, Bundy, Gonzales, etc., though Roberts and Nash are noteworthy exceptions).

This is why so many people believed that Edge actually might beat Undertaker at WM XXIV, because he was also undefeated and that streak had ALSO happened organically. The closest could have been Cena...if only he had won at WrestleMania XXIV, we'd have Streak v. Streak to add to the Cena/Undertaker potential encounter.

Note: Orton actually made the pin on Cena in that match, so they couldn't even play the whole "never pinned or made to submit" angle. Oh well.

If I were Vince, and I wanted someone to end the streak, I would make him sign (at least) a six year contract first.

Do you think that he has a clause in his contract now where he won't lose at any Wrestlemania?
No. He has no problem with putting someone over at WM, but it has to be the right guy. Rumor has it that he wanted to let Randy Orton beat him, but Orton refused out of respect for the UT.

The only scenario that makes sense is if Alex Wright comes out of his retirement to break the streak. Every Germanophile and Danceophile in the WWE verse would mark out like heck.

Yeah I heard this, apparently Undertaker wanted to have Orton become the biggest heel of the era, and have him Bury the Undertaker alive to really solidify him. But Orton refused, maybe he wasn't that much of an asshole as people said.

If he does lose, it should be to someone new and fresh but on the rise, but WWE has to make sure it's someone that's mostly a wrestling mark at heart (we know they won't go anywhere). Someone that uses a style that can allow them to last a long time, so no high flyers.

Anyway, I don't think that breaking the streak would condemn u to eternal heel status. Ppl will hate u for a little while but who knows, after a while they could start to cheer for him for no real reason ala Orton. I think it would just get this person majorly over.
