"In addition to having been a professional wrestler and the star of the reality television show "Hogan Knows Best" in his time, it seems that that Hulk Hogan was also a musician in his younger days. Hogan claims that he was offered a position in Metallica playing bass while the band was still starting out.

In a recent interview with The Sun (via Gibson), the heavyweight champion spoke about his days as a session musician as well as his friendship with Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich.

"I used to be a session musician before I was a wrestler," Hogan said. "I played bass guitar. I was big pals with Lars Ulrich and he asked me if I wanted to play bass with Metallica in their early days but it didn’t work out."

I think it would be more amusing to see Hogan try and do Metallica vocals...

"Exit light, enter night...brother"
"Darkness imprisoning me, brother. All that I see, brother?"

To be fair session musician are much better then most of the guys in rock bands, so if he was a session musician that means he was crazy good at guitar. Also Les Claypool got a tryout when Burton died just because he was childhood friends with one of them.

We had this thread yesterday. Regardless, this revelation is nothing new - Hogan's been saying that for years now. Whether or not it's true is anyone's guess.
