I thought I would give some proper structure to each main component to the roster.

Tag Team:

To start on a positive note I believe that the tag team division looks both great on paper and has already produced the majority of the best matches I've seen the company put on. AEW will more than likely be the flagship for tag team wrestling and I for one and more than happy to see tag team wrestling get its fair shake. It has a wide variety of fun tag teams with different identities and perhaps most importantly most of them can go. Even with the 9 teams they currently have they already put pretty much all tag divisions to shame. It's clear to me this feels like the most fleshed out part of the roster.

Women:

As it stands it feels like the womens division doesn't really know what it wants to be. They have brought in a few joshi which is cool, but also have a weird mixture of gimmicks and inexperienced/mediocre wrestlers. I think this is largely a result of WWE's massive monopoly on singles talent which also effects the men's singles part of AEW's roster.

Singles:

The singles wrestling talent is incredibly shallow at the moment. As far as legit current main event talent; it only really includes Moxley, Jericho, Cody, and Omega. As far as guys I could easily see build into that role I would include PAC, Page, Sabian, and MJF. The midcard as it currently stands is pretty weak and mostly filled with hardcore guys. We are more than likely going to see a lot of over lap between singles and tag wrestlers until the roster fills out more. This is just because the roster is pretty small as far as singles talent goes.

Hopefully this is only a small portion of the wrestlers announced like Cody has claimed, but as it currently stands I am a bit underwhelmed.

Tag Team division is the best in the world imo, Lucha Bros, Young Bucks, SCU, LAX, Luchasaurus/Jungle Boy the division is stacked!

For the women I like Baker, Shida and Riho and I want to see more of Rose and Bea but they have potential. Rest of the division could use some work and aew should really push for Tenille Dashwood, Mayu, And Tessa if and when available.

The rest of the roster is solid, Jericho, MOX, Cody, Omega, PAC, MJF and Hangman is a great top of the card and I like guys like Darby Allin. AEW could use with more size and fill out the lower card a touch but the roster is still good

They have the best tag team division of any major company. Only really missing a big and/or bruising team, like The Briscoes, The OC, The Revival, etc.

Their Women's Division still feels very experimental. They've got the Joshi like Hikaru, Riho, Yuka along with newer women like Nyla and someone they clearly have plans for like Britt. Talent is there, but it's easily the biggest question mark in AEW.

On the singles undercard they have a a lot of unique characters like Darby, Joey, Havoc, Cassidy, Sonny Kiss, The Librarians, etc. Guys who will bring a more entertaining factor to AEW.

And in the main event you have a mix of established names from WWE like Cody, Jericho, Mox, PAC and guys who made it big outside of the WWE system like Omega, Hangman, and MJF who's right behind them. It's a small main event core right now, but one that if booked right and kept interesting can carry them for years to come while they build new stars.

So overall it's a very diverse roster in terms of size, skill sets, personalities. In terms of things they could need, a bruiser tag team, a big name woman free agent, and build new stars that can be main eventers one day.

I worry that by splitting up the talent pool, oppose to working together like had been the case with NJPW and ROH, AEW will do more harm then good.

Those worries could end up being completely unwarranted but it's a concern I've had nonetheless.

Their roster is worthless because it suffers from the modern wrestling general problem of lack of talent and size.

Hiring indy wrestlers doesn't work, these are not built for a big company like AEW. They have to go get charismatic football players, MMA fighters or bodybuilders and train them to be wrestlers before even launching their TV program.

Apart from Moxley, Adam Page and Luchasaurus, these roster is a full pack of vanilla midgets.

Great guys on top. Well...if the guys aren’t great, they are getting to do comparatively great work. It’s weird to think the best guys on a roster are Chris Jericho, Tye Dillinger, Cody Rhodes and Goldust. This could become problematic if, say, the WWE went with an organic pro-wrestling approach, and let their amazing talent be authentic workers.

The under-card is actually pretty poor. It’s a lot of philosophically disconnected stuff. How does Orange Cassidy belong in the same universe as Chris Jericho? This is a problem.

They don’t really have any outstanding women or tag teams. SCU are really good, and I like Jungle Boy/Luchasaurus. Private Party have potential. But is that really a better division than the WWE has, or could potentially have? And AEW, no matter what they say, treat women’s wrestling exactly the same as WWE, and Britt Baker, Nyla Rose and Kylie Rae (I know she’s gone now) would have fit in perfectly in WWE. If I could build a women’s roster, I’d take KANA, Kairi Hojo and Io Shirai over Riho, Hikaru Shida and their third best Japanese woman.

They’ve got a lot of scraps. They’ve done well with it on top, but not so much underneath.

You don't think AEW would've wanted the top Joshi in the world if they could have?
Of course they would. However they didn't exist when before they got signed. And a lot of good they're doing in WWE right now anyway.

I didn't know what to expect going into this. I'll be honest and say most of their roster I was clueless on outside of the elite guys initially. I knew Havok, Janella, Lucha Bros, and SCU as well. Everyone else at the Jacksonville launch I didn't.

I think they're doing a great job with "scraps" and Indy guys. Some need work still, but it's a new company and they need time to develop these new guys. I certainly don't think failed football players and body builders looking for a paycheck are the answer. It's only going to get better from here as talent leave other places and come into the mix with these homegrown guys. It's pretty exciting.

I don't mean to sound cyncial but, I'm still not sure. Right now I'm a bit iffy on it. I need to give these guys more time to settle in, and see if I can adjust to at least most of them. But if I made a brusque decision now, if it was me I'd want at least half of them fired immediately because some already don't spark to me.

Instead, I play it carefully. Just wait & see, let things play out with them.

I can say the top card is worthwhile, but they could use a couple more guys in it. Monsters. Bruisers. Guys that are out to just come, take your head off, and leave.

Maybe they're actually going to be main Eventing mostly with their tag teams instead of their singles or I could be wrong but their tag teams are looking really good

I don’t know how anyone could watch Best Friends vs. Dark Order and think that this tag division is any good, haha. I know they have other teams, but no one is anywhere near, say, The Revival or The Usos. I mean, they’re booked badly, but either of those teams goes to AEW they blow away all the other acts.
