hey guys. my name is ben. im a wwe fan, i started watching in 1998. during attitude era. iv followed now for around 14 years. id say it peaked around 1999-2003, went downhil for a bit. then in 2006-2008 had a slight rise in ratings. but now it seems to be down once again.
i personally think that wrestlemania28 was a missed oportunity to really enhance daniel bryan, cody rhodes and cm punk. bryan vs shemus should have been inside a hell in cell. because undertaker vs hhh didnt need the cell to get viewers. what was the point of jericho vs cm punk? imo it should have been miz vs punk vs rhodes for wwe title. jericho is another wrestler who doesent need to be main event to get ratings.
my next theory is that things are going a bit soft. no hardcore matches, backstage brawls, 2-3 falls, submissions, or fatal 4 ways. all we seem to see is basic one on ones.
also wwe are relying on ledgends who have returned to boost ratings. this is a method that in theory should work. however they are usually pitting them off against one another. they need matches like jericho vs rhodes vs orton. or the rock vs cena vs ziggler.
the new crop of fighters, rhodes, miz, bryan, sheamus, ziggler, etc. need to be fighting in huge matches and beating ledgends. thats the only way they can step up. someone should end the takers streak. sure it would be sad for a ledgend. but evolution is a natural thing.
i love wwe to bits. i tune in every week, i order all ppvs. i would just love to see it rise to highest heights one more time.
