they don't really seem hated in any promotion. I remember a time when people thought the bad guys were actually bad, you would like to see the guys you hated get beat. Not anymore. Maybe we need another evil Russian or Iranian to spice things up, thoughts?

To be honest, it's genuinely hard for heels to draw heat these days, you can't get hated simply by being a bad guy, you either have to be up against a massive favourite, like Owens was v Jericho, or like Ciampa turning on Gargano at Takeover, or you have to be perceived as a terrible talent, so you get booed because the fans are sick of you. it's because some heels are so immensely talented that fans just respect how good they are, rather than hate them

Being a heel is different today. People ironically hate heels more than anything. Overexposure really makes everyone seem normal and harder to believe they're a bad person.

The trick isn't to change the heels. The trick is to make the faces more interesting. It could work. Austin was one of the most loved faces of all time because he didn't pander to the crowd and it didn't matter who was in his way. He just kicked ass (whether they were faces or heels). Nowadays, you see faces only running in to save other faces, pandering to the crowd, smiling constantly, making corny jokes, and playing by the rules. That's not fun at all and it's hard for people to really care about them as much because of it. The heels do the exact opposite which is why they're more loved.

I agree. The faces really need to be a lot more interesting for the fans to truly get behind them.
