Always hated Edge as a face even back when he was feuding with Kurt Angle in 2002 because it just felt so forced and that is why the fan's turned on him and he even got booed out of the building in his own hometown on one Raw. Shawn Michaels did a great job with Edge in taking him to another level as a top heel and even though he lost momentum after the feud with Shawn Michaels and ended up back in the mid card for a good while he got all that heat back in his feud with John Cena.

That feud with John Cena took both men to a different level and was probably a career defining feud for both men, for me it is the best feud since Shawn Michaels and Triple H back in 2002 because of how natural the chemistry was between them. In between 2006 and 2008 was easily the best work of Edge's career and he drew such HUGE heat in that period but unfortunately injuries meant his heel character was stop and start quite often and he hasn't seemed the same since his feud with John Cena ended at Backlash in 2009.

Edge was good as a face in 03 when Evolution was the main heel group. Otherwise he should be a heel...it seems like most people are better heels. Just about everyone except Rey Mysterio, his WCW heel run was awful.

His work as a heel with E&C and his Rated R Superstar heel run when he first won the WWE Championship surpasses anything he's done as a face, in my opinion.

So definitely prefer him as a heel.
