Re: Has the pg era been financially successfull?

Compared to others? Hell no. At other points in time they were practically PRINTING money. Now, they rely on about 3 guys to sell merchandise, PPV buys are down, they're whoring themselves out on just about every single media outlet, they're desperately trying to convince fans the support them...

I'm not saying they're gonna starve at night, but the boom times are definitely over.

Has to be successful. If it wasn't, I'm sure Vince would have changed something by now.

Sure, it might be as successful as the Golden Era but honestly, what era would be? Value of money is different now. PG era is setting records every year with WM, merchandise is moving and they have a great relationship with the media. Sponsorship is high. The whole purpose is to make money, more money than what you have. I don't see Vince doing the same thing if there isn't some kind of major profit involved.

Last time I checked WWE was still standing and continues to dominate the wrestling business. Look at the money they draw for the WrestleMania event alone every year. So yes, this era, this company has been financially successful.

Depends on how you judge it, they've been making very good money when you're talking merch sales, ticket sales and TV revenue but their stock hit a nine year low a few weeks back.

They're making money, but from the actual product it's almost all-time low. The real reason they're doing business is all the TV deals worldwide and the international expansion they did because their main markets are falling every year. The biggest factor of their year is WM, if WM is successful, it changes the entire business, other than that, Vince built a reliable brand name and now tries to find every place in the world to do a new tour and that's what keeping him in business.

I read tat they cant produce attitude era stuff because it will get banned in about 25 to 30 per cent countries leading to loss of revenue. So going pg seems the better option financially.

More than that.

They set a new record each year for WM, both attendance wise and PPV wise.
um no, they haven't. Attendance wise, wrestlemania 3 destroys all of their wrestlemanias recently. For Wrestlemania PPV buys, theyve gone to MUCH more countries than they used to, American buys have been down constantly for a while now.

So ignoring house show numbers? They've been down. Ignoring other ppvs too? Because a lot of buys for other ppvs have been down. How about ratings? Theyve been down too. How about Raw and Smackdown attendance? Theyve been down as well

I mean for the respective arenas, not overall.

And it doesn't really matter that PPV numbers and house shows are down, WWE are definately charging more for the PPV's and tickets to shows then they were in the past. Don't forget that numbers weren't always drastically high, especially when WWE ran in places like the Manhattan Center.

You think because house shows are half of what they used to be, you forget that WWE are likely charging more for tickets than they were 15 years ago. Plus, they making more internationally than they ever have.

In case you can't realize or choosing to ignore, ratings, attendance and PPV's aren't everything. WWE is in a good position financially because if they weren't, wouldn't things have changed by now? And don't compare PPV numbers or ratings of recent to those of the past, times were a lot different.

Quite successful, financially.

Licensing deals, television expansion, the return of the stadium Wrestlemanias and the inauguration of the Wrestlemania travel packages, better toy deal (partnering up with Mattel is a boon to WWE), solid merchandise sales overall and greater penetration of international markets all put together point to this being a very strong, very sturdy era in terms of financial success.

Where they have been hit hardest is in public relations more than anything else with embarrassments like Linda McMahon's Senate campaigns, the crushing of the stock to nine-year lows, the hemorrhaging of resources and investment capital in the WWE films division and the fiasco known as "The WWE Network." No doubt, there's money--and a lot of it--tied up in all of those ventures, and that will come back to bite them but the McMahons have never done especially well once they go beyond their pro wrestling bread and butter.
