Comic-Con is now on and Halo: Reach has had a massive blowout. Feel free to merge with an existing thread

What's different? What's it about?

Halo: Reach will feature many new additions to the Halo sandbox while still retaining the core gameplay. The health system will be similar to that of Halo: Combat Evolved and Halo 3: ODST, and the player's energy shields will recharge slower than in Halo 3. The HUD will highlight environmental features and overlay information about them, and the Motion Sensor display will be three-dimensional. Halo: Reach also introduces a refined Equipment system known as "Armor Abilities." Pieces of equipment will now be selected upon respawning; armor abilities will be reusable with a cool-down time between uses. A new assassination system will also be featured, in which holding down the melee button will trigger a context-sensitive, third-person assassination animation. Simply pressing the melee button allows for the old-instant-kill assassination.

The weapon selection has been streamlined from that of Halo 3, so that every weapon has a specific role. The number of different grenade types has also been reduced from that of Halo 3, and incendiary grenades and spike grenades will not be returning. Human weapons all hit more or less instantly after pulling the trigger, giving them a more powerful feel. There will no longer be dual-wielding available in Halo: Reach, following the same path as Halo 3: ODST.

Players will be able to personalize their character's armor, and the appearance will be consistent across campaign and multiplayer. Halo: Reach also includes the ability to select your character's gender, with male and female each having a separate character model. Whereas in Halo 3 there were four options to change, in Halo Reach there will be eleven: Helmet, left shoulder, right shoulder, chest, wrists, kneeguards, utility, visour color, armor effects (like lightning and the famous flaming helmet), firefight voice and gender. Like in Halo 3, the armor permutations will only be aesthetic and will not affect gameplay.

Armor Abilities

Armor Abilities are exclusive gameplay enhancements featured in Halo: Reach. It is a refined version of Halo 3's Equipment feature where instead of being used once, each ability will be reusable, with a cooldown time between uses. These can be accessed through each Loadout before a match is starting or during your respawn time. These abilities cannot be used while carrying a flag / skull

The first thing of note is the new hardware bundle. Rumoured by Ars and HaloTips, the pack was revealed and unboxed in front of the attending audience.

The bundle will contain a 250Gb Xbox 360 Slim, a copy of Halo: Reach, two wireless controllers and the trimmings.

Firefight - Play as Covenant

New modes include Gruntpocalypse - which you guessed it is grunts only. As before you face waves of mobs on selected maps however this time round they have matchmaking for the mode! Which should have been in ODST if we're being honest

Forge 2.0

Everyone loves forge right? Well here's a new awesome upgraded version for Reach. To demonstrate



13 maps or thereabouts have been shown so far. The game will include new game modes one of which called "The Arena"

Confirmed remake of Blood Gulch as seen above which will feature for the first time since Halo. A new forklift has been added as a vehicle and there are also new weapons to use ontop of the armor abilities featured at the top of this thread. The graphics also look to have had a big improvement as seen below.

On an end note. I don't play the game much anymore.

I would have just preferred classic Halo tbh, not all of these COD style armour abilities. I don't think multiplayer will live up to previous Halo's.

However I am looking forward to the campaign which will hopefully be better than Halo 3's lacklustre one and Firefight should be great this time around.

No more incendiary or spike grenades? Odd.

The MP Voting system looks good, we have a choice of 3 different games, which will offer us alot of variations, but alot of dissapointments if we don't get the game we want.

Firefight now has match-making, sweet. I struggled to find players to play with in ODST. REACH should fix that.

Black Ops is made by TreyArch which means it will be shit, seriously the only good thing about WAW was Zombies, the MP was crap with crap weapons and maps that all looked the same and the campaign was boring imo.

Don't mind Halo, don't play it too often but its a decent game, might have to pick up a copy of Reach.

wow this is amazing, the forge feature really blew my mind, i played the beta and wasn't fully satisfied but i think i will be once it releases, i hope reach recreates the same multiplayer magic halo 2 did back in the day

I've pre-ordered the Limited Edition of this, so I really can't wait. I'm a big fan of the series, even ODST.

Even though I bought the Modern Warfare 2 'Super' Elite last year, I really want that Reach Slim, looks fucking lovely.
