I don't mean so much the result of the match, but more what actually happened within a match like spots etc.

I still can't beleive at HIAC in 98 between Taker and Mankind - their plan was for Foley to fly off the top of the cell in THE FIRST MINUTE OF THE MATCH.

A spot that could've quite probably left Mankind unable to continue they did in the first minute? I never understood that.

Sure it looked amazing that he got back up and scaled the cage again - but I've also thought that it would've made a better match for them to brawl inside the cell first - then have that big spot as a pinnacle of the match.

Any others?

I thought it made Mankind way more over, it was like this SOB is dirty and weird but man, you can't keep him down, he fell from a Cell and wanted to fight, the Match was in general not all that long.

Not really concerned tbh, just surprised he dived off a cage in the first minute of a match.

In Foley's book, he said that he and Taker planned the match that way because:
1. Taker had an ankle injury going into the match so there are limitations to what he can do.
2. Foley wanted to outdo HBK's bump from the first HIAC.
3. Both factors combined to them planning a match that had an explosive start.

To answer the original question, I've never understood the point of the HIAC lowering on the Austin/Kane First Blood Match which incidentally occured after the match that original poster mentioned.

By them doing that it also put Mankind way over with the crowd. As he started walking back to the ring after he was escorted up the ramp he had every single one of us in the palm of his hand.
