Much of those failures can be contributed to the booking process on the main rosters. NXT, compared to Raw & Smackdown are almost like night and day. I don't think the NXT debuts were anything special outside of Kevin Owens. His mic work alone has been refreshing. Nothing against the others, but Fandango, Dallas, and Neville were all underwhelming. It's not the end of the world because there is still plenty of time for these characters to progress, but that's up to creative and that talent as well to make happen.
Simon Gotch is certainly one of the more entertaining personalities in the WWE. I love his current gimmick because it was something he was already doing prior to NXT. He already had something coming into Developmental. If you are a teacher and you observe a student that is already that prepared you have to be impressed from day 1. Gotch was ready the moment he walked in. In fact Aiden English benefits greatly from the gimmick Gotch brought into the WWE. English was doing something different, but close enough to pair with Simon Gotch. I don't know that Gotch could get over in the current look he has now. I think something like this could work.
