Following Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo Forcing Odds Disclosure Game Publishers Cower Again By "Reforming" & Outright Removing P2W Lootboxes

When it takes the big three to tell you to fuck off with your bullshit you know you're ultimately fucking up. To think this could have been avoided in so many different fucking ways, but instead of changing and editing lootboxes to the point where they were fair we were instead fed excuses like "loot boxes aren't gambling this doesn't harm anyone", "we disagree with (this Country's) interpretation of the law", and my personal favorite "games are so expensive to make". Oh yes, woe is you not being able to pay for those unnecessarily expensive marketing campaigns that rival and often times best the game development budget itself. It took politicians from every side of the political field to finally get these greedy fucks to realize that they were greedy fucks and shockingly it was the console publishers who seemingly brought what may very well be the end of lootboxes as we currently know them.

For clarity as of a few days ago Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo announced that they would be forcing any and all game publishers/developers who utilize Pay-2-Win lootboxes to disclose odds (determined by them) for said products by the end of 2020 and starting as soon as the end of this year. Naturally, the gaming industry being the shitbag it currently is was none too happy about this. Now we have stories like these coming:

EA is also reportedly "reworking" how their lootboxes behave. You had all the time in the world to admit that what you were doing was fucked up, lazy, and just plain sinister. It took several countries banning you and Governments threatening to interfere with the industry for the top three who control the console market to force regulation. I'm sure in a few days we'll get these sad story time press releases about the eventual death of lootboxes from these publishers and some (hello 2K) will probably even beg us for our help. But I don't feel sorry for them and honestly, neither should anyone. At least now we can probably look forward to games being good again, until they fuck it up again. But hey someone who controls you forcing you to regulate is better than Government officials forcing control from within and regulating you so :draper2.

good for the game (literally)

never touched lootboxes or pay to win nonsense

hopefully this means they'll spend more time making single player games, or the single player parts of games, better

FIFA Ulimate Team is the worst. EA are utter scum. I'd love to see them collapse.
