Mick Foley was interviewed today on "The Drive with Marc James" on CBS Radio 610 "The Fan" (WFNZ) out of Charlotte, North Carolina to promote his appearance in Charlotte later on tonight.

The topic of a WWE deal however came up and Foley said this:

"Honestly, I'm probably not going to sign my Legends Deal with WWE because I don't think they did the right thing by the guys with the video game. The check was a little low. Last year, there was a bankruptcy, but this year there wasn't. So, I don't see the upside to signing the legends deal when the carrot isn't there dangling. So, I'm not going to sign my Legend's deal."

Whatever floats his boat. I guess without knowing specifics it makes knowing exactly what to think about this a little difficult.
What is the upside and downside of signing or not signing these things?
Is there some kind of clause in them that says you can or can't do this or that work?

I have been somewhat curious about these deals for a while.

Basically he is grasping at straws. He is mad about the game payout, but bet he didnt mind causing a SMS check when they gave him a gm role anyone else would have took which required the least work. When its book time he will be there getting his cheap pop and kissing some ass

I may be wrong, but I think the Legends contracts require the legend to make appearances (on tv, at autograph signings, etc.) They also have to clear any independent bookings with the WWE first. He can still show up on tv without the contract, but he will probably just be paid per appearance.

Foley seems to enjoy nipping at the hand that feeds him, not biting hard enough to do damage, but enough to be a pest.

You can't do outside bookings without the WWE's permission when you're under a legends contract. It was the only reason Edge isn't under a legends deal right now because of his Haven appearances.

I imagine with Mick it has to do with his comedy tour he has been doing recently.

Selfish and a Shameless asshole scumbag. I wish WWE would actually use their corporate power and fuck him over real good, just once. Then I guarantee you this fat fuck would never open his mouth again. WWE needs a send a strong message out there to people like him, make an example out of him.

Unfortunately though WWE won't do anything at all, Vince seems to have lost his balls and HHH is a total tool who never holds any grudges and just way too forgiving. What's the point of having all that power when people like foley aren't scared of ya? Right now, the "corporate image" of WWE in the wrestling world is that, you can do whatever you want or say whatever you want without worries because WWE don't have the balls to do anything about it.

The problem with signing a Legends contract is that if WWE books you somewhere, they come first and you have to cancel whatever booking you made beforehand on that day. Its a real pain in the ass and why it took so long for The Honky Tonk Man to come to terms with them.

Foley is making good money with his tour and other signings. I'm sure he could deal without the hassle from the company as he's gone on record in detail several times in his books.

What makes him selfish or shameless? You do realize Foley does business by himself and that a legends deal may conflict with his own work? It's a vast world there you know, WWE is not the be all, end all even for former WWE stars. He is a WWE Legend, he isn't chained to WWE at all, if he is better off financially without the Legends deal then he has all the rights not to sign it, and who is the selfish one? The WWE marks that want all past their prime guys to still be tied to WWE even though they get nothing out of it or Foley just looking out for himself and doing what he enjoys the most? He is a financially set man, he doesn't have to bend over anybody in 2014, if WWE wants to do business with him they better make a good deal.

He wants to keep doing his own thing without any contractual obligation to the WWE. That's good. Nice to see Foley just keeping it real.
