I don't know what name they went by but there was a mystery tag team of two guys that came in and they had some followers around does anybody know any information about them or what are your first thoughts on them? It looks like they'll be competing in the tag team division (the lights were going out a couple times for them incase anybody is wondering who I'm talking about)

Re: First Impression of the 'Mystery Tag-Team?"

From research I believe they're a team called the super smash bros but I currently have no opinion of them outside the fact that one of them kind of looks like Rowe if he was smaller (have seen good things mentioned about them on this forum though once or twice so looking forward to seeing if those comments are warranted)

as someone who plays Super Smash Bros. nice name, that aside the Tag Division in AEW looks just as great as the ME Scene.

They're called the SUPER SMASH BROS (and for very obvious reasons couldn't be called that last night) Evil Uno is the masked one :cozy and the other one is Stupefied. They have a video game gimmick

They're based out of Canada, and are one of the best teams in the world. Having absolute bangers with the Bucks/Dojo Bros/Incoherence to name a few. They primarily worked PWG and CHIKARA, but a visa issue fucked that up, and they've been wrestling in Canada since then. I'm guessing AEW fixed the issue, and now they're back.

They're a fantastic team, and can really bring something special to the division

Super Smash Brothers are awesome. Shame they didn't get much of a reaction but those who don't know will know soon enough. They are an outstanding team.

They looked fucking horrible. It came off rinky-dink and was easily my least favorite part of the main show. It was pretty funny no one knew who they were.

Been one of the best tag teams around since 2007. They're finally getting a chance on a major stage and I couldn't love it more. EVIL Uno & Stu having minions backing them up while demolishing tag teams to instantly put them over as stand out heels for the division; this was a huge high point for me with the PPV.

@Donnie ; was spot on with getting the information out there about Super Smash Bros. Their series vs Bucks really put them on the map. Had a rematch vs them last year in ROH while in Canada. Well worth seeking out, along with the PWG series. (and plenty of others, like vs Osirian Portal in 2008, but baby steps for introduction)

Super Smash Bros are fucking AWESOME.

I am sure those in attendance knew who THEY were, ffs he had EVIL UNO written on his attire so Excalibur would have known exactly who he was. - it was just the guys in green masks that probably confused them. And I assume there will be some copyright issues with the "Super Smash Bros" name which is why commentary couldn't really sell them and instead basically said "Who are they?"

Cannot wait to see more of them though and like @Obfuscation said - if their gimmick is to have these little green masked minions help them destroy a tag division and use their bodies as human thrones then I am for it. Something nice and different from other tag teams.

First time i saw the team and i kinda liked it. The minions were a nice touch as was the human throne. The whole lights off, lights on thing was a big naff but lets put them in a match and see if they deliver.

I loved the look of the human throne but the the guy who looks like a bite size Raymond Rowe didn't seem to fit with the rest of the scene. He stuck out like a sore thumb.

There is a bit of a paradox risk with AEW right now. Are these guys, and guys like Luchasaurus and Jungle Boy, just wrestlers who play gimmicks to self promote and entertain or are we supposed to believe they really are their gimmick and then how does that meld with the real life stories they interject into their storylines. We both have to know and not know wrestling is fake depending on the storyline of the moment.

In this case is Evil Uno just a wrestler who is a gamer and dresses up like video game final boss type character or does is he one/believes he is one? Did he have special powers in turning the lights on and off? Or did one of his minions do that and it's part of his show? And if one of his minions did it - why did AEW production allow an invading wrestler do that?

This isn't of course isolated to AEW, it's an industry-wide issue when companies try to have both real life storylines and gimmicks interact.

Both Stu and Evil Uno have been doing shows here in Ottawa for C*4 for a while now, fantastic talent. In fact Stu is the current champion here, and both of them will be at the next show in June. I will be going for suuuuuure!

It was an interesting moment in the ppv, but like many of the production issues they had that night not being known to the audience was a mistake. Las Vegas wrestling fans don't know who the Smash Bros are. This is why they need a tv show to get the audience familiar with all the indy wrestlers they are going to use. Maybe on the next ppv show they can do a quick video intro of wrestlers they will use that night.

Stu Grayson still doesn't fit. And I did my homework and understand he's portraying another character from the Nintendo universe and the Super Smash Brothers game combined characters from all Nintendo games together and thus the fact they don't match was part of the SSB indie gimmick. But if they've dropped that because of trademark reasons now and are going by The Dark Order - his Spartan/Viking(?)* gimmick needs to go. Put a mask on him or something and call him Evil Dos or something.

*MJF says "Love that VEGA mask" Okay so he's cosplaying a Street Fighter character. I guess old school gamers might recognize what they're doing here. Everybody else - not so much.

If they're still going with the SSB gimmick then Vega and Evil Uno should just seem like random pairing. Stu Grayson should not appear in these vignettes - just have it Evil Uno with his creepers and then just like a random partner with nothing in common was chosen for him he and Grayson/Vega appear as a tag team and work in complete cohesion.

I will say Evil Uno isn't a bad promo at all.

As for the look and the gimmick with the minions, not sure yet. It'll take some time to see if that works for me long term.

The recent video that was posted is interesting and I'm really digging it I like the way the characters are being portrayed definitely unique

It’s better than (insert generic tag team)

Love that they have a unique gimmick, love the minions and the promo was really good.

Looking forward to more.

Would like to see them at Fyter or FFTF before All Out

They don't seem to have a video game gimmick. They have a spooky gimmick. I think you can consider all the stuff they did as "Super Smash Bros" to be non-canon. They are The Dark Order and their story started at Double or Nothing.
