Did the establishment of the nWo lead to the downfall of WCW?

Deadline to hand in your debate will be Sunday May 10th. Failure to show will result in an automatic disqualification. As previously mentioned, your debates are to be posted in this thread only.

You have the option to choose your own side of the topic so you may debate the same side without consequence.

Good luck.

The establishment of the nWo was NOT responsible for the eventual demise of World Championship Wrestling. While New World Order founders, Hollywood Hulk Hogan, Scott Hall and Kevin Nash, were key players in the toxic political environment and WCW's refusal to move away from the big names such as that trio may not have helped the situation, the demise of WCW falls squarely on the shoulders of the booking. Both the booking of WCW and the company which eventually crushed them, World Wrestling Entertainment.

At a certain point, you've gotta cut the crap and take WCW from 1999 and on for what it was worth -- shit.

Pure and utter shit.

The most friendly, upbeat and cohesive circle-jerk of.a locker room isn't gonna help a company if the product that it puts on television makes you long for.a spoon to be shoved up your ass.

Speaking of spoons and asses...

Err, speaking of television, Hogan and company weren't responsible for WCW's lack of a television deal at the end of their run. Their consistently groan-inducing product was.

Apparently, shitty booking equals shitty TV equals no TV equals no company.

Now, I've never been a math expert, but that seems relatively clear to me.

But, let's play hypothetical for a moment. Everything's perfect backstage...the booker's put on solid storylines...and the wrestlers go out to the ring and put on strong matches...

...YOU'VE STILL GOT ANOTHER FUCKING COMPANY PUTTING ON THE BEST PRODUCT THEY HAVE IN YEARS WITH LEGITIMATE MEGASTARS IN THE INDUSTRY!

Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock, The Undertaker, Triple H -- at the start of the millenium, the World Wrestling Federation was walking around with a legitimate dream team of superstars, putting on absolutely compelling television each and every week.

So no, don't blame the nWo, don't blame politics, nor should you blame the spoon in your ass (which hurts a bit at first, but which soon feels as natural in your ass as...well...yeah), it's much simpler and less evil than thay.

People watch what's good.

Told you it was simple.
