Faces of the company who have been BOO'ed

Am sure John Cena is not the first face of the company that was Boo'ed for I remember hearing that Hogan too was Boo'ed. Which other face of the company were booed when they were playing the face of the company and which face did you hate other than the guys mentioned above?

I do know Rock was booed at WrestleMania X8 against Hogan and SummerSlam against Brock later that same year.
Sans Austin and Bret, didn't they all get booed in the end resulting in heel turns? Everybody gets fed up of the guy who is being forced to root for in the end.
Shawn Michaels was booed at Survivor Series 1996 against Sid in Madison Square Garden.
Hogan
Cena
Rock(vs Hogan and Brock)

Austin-I don't think people were going to cheer McMahon instead of him

Bret Hart-Before my time. Not sure if the double turn counts

HHH-He was the 'face' of company after Austin and Rock left. But he was a heel.He didn't get cheered till he faced Cena at WM22
Bret was booed against Taker at Rumble 96 and against HBK at Mania 12. Sid was booed against Taker at Mania 13 and Savage against Warrior at Summerslam 92.
Sheamus booed at Chicago. Not sure if that counts.

Also in Miami and against Ziggler at one of the PPV's earlier in the year.
Hogan
Austin
Rock - He was booed against Hogan but managed to split the crowd pretty much 50/50 which was pretty impressive. Then was booed against Brock because fans were mad he was leaving the company to go film.
HBK
Bret

I'm pretty sure every face of the company has been booed at some point. Probably not to the extent that Cena has tho.
I really cannot recall any clear cut, definitive babyface WWE "poster boy" getting booed at Cena-esque proportions. Pretty sure Cena's the first one to draw such a split reaction.
Many more faces like Cena will emerge in future, where some sections cheer and some sections boo the guy.

Almost every one today gets a split reaction.Maybe with the exception of Randy Orton.
But were they booed consistently, by a very sizeable portion to an outright majority of the crowds, for seven years?

No. If somebody was a heel and getting cheered, the wrestler's character would evolve into a heel off that. If a heel was getting cheered the character would be changed to get heat or the wrestler would change his character and wrestling style to go face.

Nobody has been a face or a heel contrary to the wishes of 20 to 40 percent of the audience for seven years.

To me, somebody getting a split reaction isn't a big deal. Getting one for almost a decade is. It shows a complete lack of respect to the fans or any amount of courage to change because playing it safe is so seductive. Mediocrity can be really tempting.

I will tell WWE this though: I took financial risks and they've paid off. I bought silver by the ounce 20 dollars ago and tripled my money. Oh, how is your WWE stock going the past 5 years? Down 60 percent? You lost 500 million dollars? I just picked a nickel up from my carpet and outperformed WWE Corporate for 4 years. If I were to physically lose 1000 dollars per day it would take me 4 years to lose the cash they have lost. Is that what they have been doing? Just burning 100 dollar bills? Just squandering money by the tens of millions?

^^^^^In this day and age where fans are fickle than ever and has a voice, every top face for now on will get booed at some point.

This is going to be the norm from now on
The biggest was The Rock at WM and SummerSlam.

The fans were pissed that Rocky was leaving after SummerSlam. The Rock sold being pissed about being booed. He was mouthing for the fans to shut up at SummerSlam
Batista got booed at that ECW show when he wrestled the Big Show. And he was also constantly booed against The Undertaker in 2007, specially Wrestlemania 23.

Exactly, can you imagine if the IWC was around during the Hogan Era and the Austin era at the scale as it today with youtube, facebook and twitter? Austin and Rock wasn't loved by the internet in the early stages of the IWC. All it will take is one post or one video that bashes whoever is the face, and that gets the ball rolling. Remember John Cena was very very popular babyface up until May or June of 2005 when the "hate" threads started and it became "cool" to hate on him.
Austin - Probably the only time he was booed as a full fledged face of the company was when the rock mentioned his name on a Raw episode before or around survivor series 1999 in Washington DC, about 1/4 or a little more of the crowd booed him. Other than when he was a tweener in 1997 (facing Taker at IHY: A Cold Day in Hell May 1997 i believe) can't think of many times.

Hogan - Some boo's during his match against Warrior at Mania 6. I heard from other posters he was also booed a little throughout 1993 and even during his match against taker in 1991?? Correct me if I'm wrong.

Rock - Wrestlemania X-8, Summerslam 02, no Mercy 2001, Some boos against Angle at No Mercy 2000, WM X-7 (held in Austin's home state of Texas)

Bret - A Few against HBK at mania 12. The double turn at Mania 13 and leading up to it when Bret would bitch and moan about getting screwed over.

HBK - Survivor Series 1996 against Sycho Sid - that NYC crowd even cheered Sid when he beat up Jose Lathario.

None of these even compare to John Cena's boo's. It's not even a contest. I can honestly say with confidence that Cena may be the most hated/controversial Face in the history of pro wrestling, hands down.

JC may not be the fits face to be booed but I don't recall a face being so consistently unpopular.

meh , it depends on the wrestler really

for example , I don't cheer for Cena because in my opinion his character is cartoonish and cheesy , and I just can't get through or connect with it , I feel as if he's insulting my intelligence anytime he no-sells a thrashing like Over The Limit with the Miz or two weeks ago with Del Rio ..

it's just that Cena's character is aimed to a certain demographic

however , if for argument's sake Steve Austin , was born 10 years late and actually started his "Stone Cold" character today (put aside the PG and the restrictions for a minute) , I doubt that he'll get anything other than huge pops and cheers

I mean here's a guy who beats up the corporate douches such as John Laurintis , flips them the bird and does what he wants and doesn't take shit from nobody and drinks on the job , are you kidding me ? Kids will think he's the coolest and the adults will think that he's pure badass not another goof who smiles all the time

so to sum up , it's not that fans it's the wrestler :D
