If you don't know, an expository theme is one that specifically explains the premise of a show or character. They were very popular in 80s cartoons and sitcoms like Gilligan's Island.
Some of the most memorable themes in pro wrestling were done in this style. Not only are many of them downright hilarious (you're listening to a song explaining the back story of a pro wrestling character), but they were also a great tool in getting a character over. It lets the audience instantly know what a guy is all about. The closest we have to a real expository entrance theme today is John Cena and he seems to have achieved some success with it.
The WWE really needs to revive this lost art.
Could you imagine tunes like that for some modern guys? Shit is a gold mine waiting to happen. Anyone else have some favorites?
