About half the NXT roster is made up of main roster WWE people anyway. Hunico's made appearances and he's currently used more on WWE shows than McIntyre.
Anything that gets McIntyre into actual matches is fine with me. The man wrestles circles around most of the roster.

It's better to rule in Hell than serve in Heaven and it's better to get a good challenging match on NXT than job to the Funkasaurus on RAW.

McIntyre isn't being used at all on Raw or Smackdown and that isn't likely to change in the near future. So he might as well get some camera time on NXT.

As a character, Drew could definitely use some sustained development. As an in ring performer, he's easily better than most of the guys in the WWE.

When was the last time he got to wrestle an actual match on Smackdown? Such a statement assumes that people can't improve.
He's WAY better than he was during his actual push (or the burial that followed). I'd say he's definitely "all that" these days.

Agreed, he is easily one of the best workers they have on the roster. I always felt like Drew needs to watch Liam Neeson films to get an idea of some sort of character. Similar to how Bray Wyatt works with the Max Cady character from the classic film "Cape Fear" in which was a remake that Martin Scorcese did of the original back in the 60's. I think I would appreciate Drew taking any one of Liam's characters that he has portrayed in his movies, but don't count Zeus in the movie "The Titans" because that would bury Drew's career.

I don't get why people think this is a bad thing for him. Winning on NXT and recreating a name for yourself there is way better than jobbing on Superstars or Raw/Smackdown, or even worse, not even getting tv time.
I would personally prefer to see him weekly on NXT in the Main Event and to prove that he deserves to be a regular figure on the main roster. He's still young, he has a lot of time to improve his in-ring skills (which are already pretty good, but not even close of his true potential). I'm sure he can become a main eventer someday, just give him some time.

Drew McIntyre is easily one of the top workers in WWE. He should be right up there with Sheamus and Barrett feuding for the World Title.
I don't think he needs character development at all either. Have a look at all the jobbers in the WWE, what do they do before a match? They stand at ringside maybe taunt the audience then they get in the ring. What does McIntyre do? Sits down with his feet up on the announce table. Same with the 6 man tag match they had awhile ago on Smackdown which was something like Santino, Hacksaw and Sgt Slaughter vs McIntyre and two other lower cards. The other two were in the ring and where was McIntyre? Over the barricade talking to some girl. Nobody else does that.
You can't judge how good he is in the ring by his matches on Smackdown during 2009-010. He wasn't all that good but you watch his Superstars matches throughout 2011 and he's improved drastically.
The way he acted on Superstars was better aswell. You have Dolph Ziggler and Rhodes doing what they do, The Miz being the usual cocky heel and then you have McIntyre come down to the ring like this - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tSkGK4_M8FA
