Don't know why some people complain, Edge's spear looks just fine.

On this forum a lot of people complain that Edge's spear looks weak or like "a running hug" but I think he does it just fine. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bQnc9XxNByk&feature=feedu - 7:00

Just a few examples. Sure, he can't exactly murder people with it like Goldberg, but he makes it work. Thoughts?

Don't worry about the haters. Edge is in great shape! I think some people just get tired of seeing the same guy in the main event.
one video is when cena actually sold for the first time and the other is against ziggler, an excellent seller

i see your 2 more and raise you the 500 soft ones.

skip sheffield's spear on edge ... now that was a spear
Edge doesn't have the wide shoulders necessary for delivering a spear, such as Goldberg had, or batista, or Lashley or even the spears Lesnar did.

A spear tackle is a move from Aussie Rules football / Rugby / American Football (illegal but originates from there)

In order to make it sell in pro-wrestling you need to have a physique that corresponds to those sort of sports.

Skip is a fucking monster though, lol.

I understand that, all I'm saying is that it isn't as bad as people make it out to be.
Edge's spear has certainly got the velocity, the buildup that ignites the crowd, and the psychotic theatrics all attached to it. His spear does indeed look alright. It's just that it would look better if he had the wider and more bulkier frame to make it really look like a proper shoulder barge when he cannons into his opponent.

Couldn't have said it better myself. +1

Edge does kind of have an AFL body.
It is irrelevant anyway because the 'spear' is way different than a spear tackle in Rugby which is basically a tackle when someone is tipped upside down (Past the horizontal) with the tackler usually picking them up from between the legs. Ironically, this would be a better wrestling move.

Here is somewhat of an example

Its fine, Cena's AA is basically just dropping someone to the floor from shoulder height with very little velocity. Most finishers can be looked down at, I mean The Rock's was an elbow, Hogan's a leg drop, yet both of them seemed to have devastating effects.
the problem is the people not selling right, look at times he hit someone like evan bourne or heath slater. they actually sold the move. selling today is so horrible
Those spears he did on Ziggler last night were fricking great.
Edge's spear is fine, but for sure there are other people who can make an impact with it better, a spear from Big Zeke would kill a man.
depends on who is selling it

When he hits smaller guys it looks much better than when he hits the bigger guys, then it just looks weak. Of all the finishers he could have chosen to be his I really don't know why he picked that one. It's much more suited to the bigger Goldberg's and Batista's of the world who actually look like they can rip you in half when they hit it.
The way I see it, Edge's spear isn't meant to knock someone down like Goldberg's or other big wrestlers. It's suppose to knock the wind out of someone for the three count. That's why wrestlers , in particular the "big" wrestlers, are able to get up after the move. When you think of it that way, it makes sense and I actually have no problem with it. It fits his opportunistic gimmick, quite well.
I think his spear looks terrible about 75 percent of the time. It doesn't bother me though. At least it's not a glorified bodyslam.

I agree 100%. I think the reason he chose that finisher is because it seems to garner the most reaction, especially the build up for it, and as someone else pointed out, it fits his ultimate opportunist gimmick.
