At WWE Extreme Rules, Dolph Ziggler will look to repel The Kingslayer in an Intercontinental Championship 30-Minute WWE Iron Man Match, a bout in which the competitor with the most decisions at the end of the 30-minute time limit will be declared the winner.

For the last few months, Seth Rollins built his identity around being a fighting Intercontinental Champion. That was until Ziggler got an assist from Drew McIntyre and dethroned The Architect to capture the illustrious title for the sixth time on the June 17 edition of Raw. Although Rollins technically got even by defeating Ziggler in the championship rematch the following week, a disqualification thanks to McIntyre’s interference kept the gold around The Showoff’s waist.

Following a bitter back-and-forth between the two competitors in a WWE.com Exclusive, Raw General Manager Kurt Angle announced they’ll settle the score in an Iron Man showdown.

The suspense-filled WWE Iron Man Match is about as high-pressure as it gets, as any number of falls can decide the winner once the smoke clears. Given the athleticism and competitive drive of each Superstar, it’s hard to imagine a contest more perfect to decide the future of the workhorse title.

One must also wonder if interference from McIntyre – or even Roman Reigns – will help or hurt their ally’s cause. After all, the last thing either Superstar can afford is a disqualification that would award a decision to their opponent.

Don’t miss a second of the championship showdown at WWE Extreme Rules, Sunday, July 15, at 7 ET/4 PT, streaming live on the award-winning WWE Network!

This is gonna be good. Maybe even a main roster MOTY contender.

If you wanted a reason to watch this shit show, here it is.

HOLY SHIT :mark

Finally a match I can be 100% excited for (I really want to be for AJ vs Rusev but the predictability hurts that a bit) this should hopefully be amazing to watch as Dolph and Seth are 2 of my favourites to watch in the ring when on their A-game :mark :mark :mark :mark

This should be really good. The overall card looks very filler and lacking of interesting matches. Like there's not much that I look at on paper and get very intrigued by. An Iron Man Match is very rare to see these days and it's with two very good workers, especially Seth at the moment. There's no way this doesn't end up good, especially with them not being restricted on time. 30 Minutes is a very good time to produce a potential classic between these two. Dolph is really good when motivated and with a good opponent, and Seth has been wrestling every match like it's his last. It's fair to say I now have a reason to tune in to Extreme Rules. :mark:

Saw someone on wrestlefan point out how

D vs s r1: dolph by rollup/cheating

R2: drew macintyre interferes.

Kurt: "lets see whos the better man"

But not a cage or no dq.

Edit l want them to bring tazz back, so he can be confused for 30 minutes on commentary about why dolph sacrificed a pt by having drew bring in chairs and beating seth.

I find it silly that they consider 30 minutes to be iron man match when most PPV mainevents go 30 minutes anyways. What also is rediculous is there will probally be 4 or 5 falls in this match when if they had just a regular match it would take 30 minutes for just 1 fall.

Sounds good to me. Iron Man matches can be hit or miss considering you know how long the match is going to go. So, it's up to them to tell a good story, or series of stories throughout the 30 minutes.

I just hope it doesn't end in the obligatory draw (ala AJ vs. Nakamura from Backlash) just to stretch out to another match. You want to piss people off? Make them go through a 30 minute match on PPV with no real winner.

Disappointed this match stip is wasted on a match and feud like this, you rarely see it in the WWE so it should reserved as the final match of a feud between top stars i.e. Okada-Omega.

It's a shame it's being used for a feud was has literally been going on 2 weeks. I couldn't care less for Ziggler and I'm not entirely sure how it fits at ER.

This stip should be reserved for a big world title match between two stars. Not a IC title match featuring Dolph Ziggler.

I hate Roman and I would have preferred Roman vs Seth in an Iron man match. At least then it would have been between two stars who deserve the stip and make it feel special like this stip should.

Here they've just given them an iron man match because 1) they need a stip 2) it will be a very good match. Typical WWE.

Was wondering when they were going to add something extreme, i mean this pay per view is called Extreme Rules yet two weeks away we only have one remotely extreme match.

Announced over social media no less :lol

I think this is the only stip they've announced so far, so they'll have to announce stips for the other matches 2 weeks out from the PPV.

Some of the reactions in this thread are proof that WWE has beaten us over the head so much with crap that when they do give people something to be excited about, many of them can't even recognize it :lol

It's Dolph Ziggler fpalm

Call it how it is, rather than letting your markdom blind you. Do you think I'd be pleased about AJ-Rusev randomly doing a 30 min iron man match? Hell no, it doesn't deserve an iron man match.

I'm sure we'll get the "negative Nancy" comments about this match, but I'm actually looking forward to it. It's another opportunity for Seth to most likely steal the show and I'm good with that. These two could go for an hour, but i'll take 30 minutes.

While I agree with what others have said about the kayfabe reasoning for this being an iron man match, along with the notion of a 30 minute one being a bit silly when you consider the average length of ppv matches, I'm still pretty interested in seeing this. If both men bring their A game it could be pretty damn good.

Personally, I wouldn't consider a 30 Minute Iron Man for a Midcard Title to be silly. I can't remember the last time a Midcard match went for that long. That's like World Title kind of length to me. Aren't they usually like 15-20 mins?

If we didn't have that MITB ppv already, I would have liked to have seen a ladder between the two, but I don't mind an Ironman match either. I see Rollins getting screwed by either McIntyre, Ambrose or Jordan.

Oh god, if fucking JJ returns. :lmao I'd love to see the meltdown in the thread with that smug grin of his.

I forgot he existed, not going to lie. I kind of enjoyed his heelish work.

Re: Dolph Ziggler vs. Seth Rollins (Intercontinental Championship 30-Minute Iron Man Match )

If Ziggler wins, he goes onto to feud with Finn over the IC Title at Summerslam with Seth moving into a feud with a returning Jordan or Ambrose.

If Rollins wins, Ziggler gets his rematch, loses, and Rollins still moves onto someone like Jordan or Ambrose.

Re: Dolph Ziggler vs. Seth Rollins (Intercontinental Championship 30-Minute Iron Man Match )

If its as good as their Raw match I will take it... These two work well together, hope WWE don't fuck it up. This match has the ability to be a MotY contender (and the main roster is missing some of those this year). So I am a little excited in this. Ziggler with Drew has really renewed by love for Ziggler, the man has got a bit of that spark back and I couldn't be happier as a former Ziggler fan :)

When the World Champion of a brand is NEVER FUCKING THERE, they have to do something to build up the next belt on the brand. I have no problem with this stip at all. If anything, this match NEEDS a stip. And it is at ER, which is supposed to be at least somewhat of a different show. Maybe if the lousy 'World Champion' showed up once in a fucking blue moon; the entire brand would be better off?

A Rollins/Ziggler match going 30 minutes long for a championship to me is a bonus I never get sick of these two.

I assume Rollins will regain the IC title at ER because his chances of competing for the UV title right now is miniscule, I would rather Brock lose to Braun which will likely allow Roman to finally win it then we can really start seeing competition in the main event without the Lesnar situation.

Seth should get his run soon enough which will allow Dean to enter the title picture as a Top Heel foil for Roman/Rollins too.
