I hate when matches end RAW with the winner(s) just celebrating, I hate it so much, what a terrible way to end a show excluding PPV's of course, loved how this week we finally got something different after awhile and a beatdown ended the show.

I think RAW's that end with promo's (Punk's shoot) or beatdown's (Nexus), end up being better overall shows in the end as well, over matches that end the show, which is just so lame to me.

Re: Do you prefer when promo's end RAW over matches?

Perhaps its because matches are seen as business as usual and promos/segments/vignettes usually help to greatly advance/set up a story/angle/feud?

I admit, I prefer the promos/segments/vignettes myself as well. What occurs in them is most of the time very memorable, whether its due to some truth being revealed, a lot of action in a short period of time or some really excellent acting. Sometimes matches and promos/segments/vignettes often overlap, like if there's a run in during an important match, which can also be awesome. But I agree, seeing John Cena celebrate after a win week after week is very boring and irritating.

Yeah, Raw should end with a dramatic cliff hanger. Tired of seeing this celebration thing. But, it depends on which superstar is cutting the promo. It would have to be a guy that the fans finds very charismatic.

YES, it would make things much better.
I loved the dramatic cliff hanger endings in the previous era of WWE! :D

On SmackDown, we had:
-Batista and Rey Mysterio getting attacked by Mark Henry (nice evil plan on MNM's part).
-Undertaker getting knocked out by the giant Great Khali.
-Edge, Kane, and Big Show invading to ambush and take out Batista.
-Cena and Shawn Michaels show up to take out Batista and Undertaker.

On RAW, we had:
-Batista almost getting run over by a fake JBL limo, but Triple H "saved" him.
-Batista turning on Evolution members at Contract Signing for WrestleMania 21 championship match.
-HBK turn on Hulk Hogan by using the Sweet Chin Music.
-Big Show knocking out Cena with a single punch to the face...*insert metal punch sound effect
-A bunch of other endings that included Cena ever since he debuted on RAW in 2005...Can't remember all of them, but some were awesome lol.

I wonder why the writers don't do it more often...Is it laziness or stubborness? or does McMahon just not want that to happen? or do they lack creativity? fpalm

It depends on where we are in the overall narrative. Sometimes a promo is the best way to leave the audience with questions going into the following week; other times, a meaningful win (say, Jannetty over Michaels on Raw in 1993) can be a great way to close things.

Plural forms of words don't have apostrophes at the end. It's not promo's, RAW's, PPV'S, etc.

Yes, I like when they say something at the end, because usually it creates a cliffhanger for the next episode or the upcoming PPV. Then again, there are barely any surprises these days, so it doesn't matter, really.

As long as it's good, I don't care if it ends with a match or promo... whatever forwards the story the best. Sometimes a match with a dusty finish is best to push the story forward. Sometimes a big win is needed heading into a PPV. If it's a title match (I'm thinking back to the late 90s on this, and not one of the "oh wait we have 5 minutes left to do intros + a match, DQ time!" that we see a lot nowadays) that's actually given time, by god that's the best way.

Promos are hit or miss for me. When it's something unexpected like Punk's was last year, something really gripping, it's a great way to end the show and FORCES you to tune in next week. When it's HHH and he's given a 25 minute contract signing because the guy talks in circles for 20 of those minutes, then I hate it.

Probably a promo. The problem with matches for me:
A. If Cena is in it he wins like 90% of the time.
B. Once it is like 5, 6 after the hour you know the match is about to end.

With promos its a little harder to pick what will happen... but last Raw lasted way to long.

Depends, I don't mind some Rock vs. Mankind Jan 4, 1999 match to end my RAW, over some crappy "face stands on turnbuckle, heel on ramp, stare into each others eyes until close" crap.

Depends really. If WWE go over the top with beatdowns and promos then they will be played out to the point where no feud seems personal anymore. That being said, WWE have an annoying habit that when they do end with a victor to a match, it's always the face standing tall. Wouldn't it be refreshing to see a heel contender make a statement by getting a decisive win to end the show?

I prefer something meaningful that makes you excited for what happens next week. I absolutely hate it when it's a generic tag team match with the faces overcoming and posing on the corners. Example is John Cena & Rey Mysterio vs The Moz & R-Truth.
