I always thought this, I mean its impossible not to if youre a man. You cant get shouted at for being unprofessional. I cant think of the film but someone did a sex scene with salma hayek and her giant titties, can you imagine rolling around with her and her moaning and kissing her and NOT getting arroused

I bet, for most actors it's a small problem (no pun intended) and happens pretty rarely, - with all those watchers, lights and cameras around. After all, you have to concentrate on your acting, you constantly have to follow directions from outside and your counterpart is concentrated on acting.

Plus, you usually know that your female co-star blows the producer, which kills the remaining romance right from the first kissing scene. =)

 

Apparently it's actually really hard to get an erection when there is a group of people with cameras there though.

I would have to assume some male actors get them when doing scenes, I can't see why they wouldn't.

I suppose all the people in the room with you might be enough to cancel out the hot girl you're pretending to have sex with.

 

If I can use the psycological aspect, I think actors are trained so well, that they are so in touch with themselves, with their emotions etc, they can probably stop themselves from getting erections, they could just "act" like the girl is ugly. If that makes sense.

I'd say no. When acting you are under pressure.

There is a full team on you, lights glaring on you, and you have to remember your lines and movement.

i think most likely, whoever you're working with would be honored if u got one, she'd probably expect it. but with all those cameras and people there watching, the blood might not flow down there like you'd think it would. so my guess would be around a third of the time.

 

From what I've been told, it's not a romantic situation whatsoever, so other than the actress herself, there's nothing arousing. Not to mention there will be a lot of people watching, numerous cameras, needing to remember lines etc. So it's not something that happens all the time. That being said, I think I remember Garcelle Beauvais saying that when she did scenes, pretty much everyone she worked with got aroused. It really depends. If you're focused on your acting and everything around you, you're probably going to get a semi at most. If the lines are there and you're laid back and comfortable enough to get into it, then it's stiffy time!

 

I've had some erections pop up at random times. Usually the one time where I need it to not occur.

I wouldn't be surprised if they do get in to it or it just happens regardless.

Not that I know, but were I an actor, a lifeless dick would kill the immersion and make it tougher to empathize with the character having sex. I'd try my damnest to keep it hard.

 

I read an article one time that stated all female actors are told when starting out that male actors do get erections during sex scenes and as a professional they should just ignore it. Wesley Snipes said in his interview he still aplogizes in advance to actresses in sex scenes with him because it cant be helped.

 

Ofcourse they do....Jeez this is a stupid question...

 

Like people said, there's a lot of people watching and cameras, so doubt it unless the actress is really hot and the scene is really intimate.
