Vickie Guerrero Divas Championship Invitational

History will be made on Sunday, April 6, when the Vickie Guerrero Divas Championship Invitational debuts at The Show of Shows. AJ Lee — the longest reigning Divas Champion of all time — will put her title on the line against 13 Divas inside the squared circle. SmackDown’s General Manger created the momentous match in response to the boastful Divas Champion opting to take a count-out loss to Naomi on the March 24 Raw.

AJ’s extraordinary title reign — which will span more than 300 days by the time WrestleMania 30 takes place — started at WWE Payback 2013 when she used cold-hearted tactics to defeat her former friend Kaitlyn. Since then, the unyielding champion has thwarted every challenger thrown her way, maintaining an unrelenting hold on her precious title.

AJ’s historic championship run hasn’t been without its challenges — her rivalry with the stars of E!’s “Total Divas” escalated to its boiling point over the summer when the unhinged titleholder blasted the reality stars with a scathing “pipe bomb” on Raw. The controversial tongue-lashing rocked the WWE Universe and ignited a rivalry among the WWE Divas that will culminate at The Grandest Stage of Them All.

In the Vickie Guerrero Divas Invitational, each challenger involved presents an obstacle for the champ. Former Divas Champions Natalya, Alicia Fox and Layla have all proven they are capable of winning “the big one.” Nikki and Brie Bella — 2013 Diva of the Year winners, as well as former champions — have plenty of experience using “Twin Magic” to knock off opponents, while Naomi and Cameron’s athleticism makes them equally dangerous opponents.

Less experienced, but certainly no less capable of winning are rookies Eva Marie, Emma, and Summer Rae. These stunning Divas have yet to showcase their full arsenal of moves, but what better time to break them out than at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome? Aksana and Rosa Mendes have flown under the radar in recent months — but if overlooked, each is a potential victor. Maybe the most intriguing Diva in the dance is Tamina. Working as AJ’s enforcer the past few months, the two have recently butted heads. Will the second-generation competitor protect the titleholder or go for championship gold?

EDIT: ok considering the amount of Divas in the match, it kinda has to be a Battle Royal. But I don't think that's exactly what it says, so it IS an assumption. I think. Maybe.

Tbh, storyline wise this is the best way to go with a Divas title match. Since winning the title last summer AJ has defeated every single Diva on the roster, the only possible 'big' match to have with the current roster is if she has to face all of them.

If AJ ends up retaining, which tbh I hope she does because how badass would it be if at Wrestlemania 30 she emerges from defeating every Diva on the roster as the longest reigning Divas champ? Would definitely cement her place in Diva history I think. Anyway, if she does retain I see Paige debuting very soon after Mania, She's literally the only person left to face AJ, perhaps she might even be a surprise entrant in the match. Would be cool to see everyone in the ring ready to fight when suddenly her music hits and you hear "Oh My God! It's Paige! The NXT Women's champion!", if she won and she was the joint Divas/NXT Women's champion, that would be an impressive debut!

Yeah, i was assuming it was an elimination handicap, that's what it made it seem like, the entire divas roster vs AJ Lee. I'm probably wrong though.

WTF kind of match is this. Are all 14 divas going to be in the ring at once and pretty much whoever gets the 1st pinfall wins? Confusing as hell.

Just wanted to throw on too, that even though alot of the Divas suck, most of them worked hard all year and deserve a spot at Mania, so this type of match is cool with me. It looks like the WWE really listened to the fans this year when it came to getting everyone involved with Mania this year. They got some terrible press when Batista won the Rumble and when Punk quit, alot of which portrayed the WWE as the bad corporation that doesn't care about its full time workers.
