Didn't HBK use the Elbow Drop?

Hey, am I wrong or did HBK use the elbow drop over the years in his moveset?

Why is just accredited to Savage? And why do WWE use it as a way to get Punk heat when their Mr WM/HOF used it all the time?

Seems a silly point to make?

The reason it's attributed to Savage and not Michaels is because it wasn't just a part of Savage's arsenal, it was his outright finisher, that was his "I hit this, 3 count" move, plus, Savage always did the pointing to the top of the arena, like Punk, Michaels never did that, and Punk only used it after Savage died.

Gotya :) So it's clear he does it as a mark of respect to a fallen legend. Still a poor way to get heat on Punk then imo.
How is it used to get heat on him? Punk started using it when Savage died and Punk was a face at the time o_O
Because Punk did adopt the nice shortly after Savage's death, he even wore tights similar to Savage's, which as a surprising good fit as both wore stars. Plus, he models it after the mannerisms Savage portrayed when executing it

It was Savage's signature move, hence why it's usually accredited to Savage.
Punk didn't steal anything, the Elbow drop and the tights are a show of respect.

Cena is the last person that should be accusing people of stealing moves when he's using the STF from Regal and named his FU after Brocks very similar F5. Also, back at Mania, he tried the Peoples Elbow against rock and copied some pf Punks moves on raw several weeks ago.

Cena last night on Raw used it to put Punk down. Calling him a phonney. i.e. using someone elses move..
It was HBK's set-up move from which to transition to Sweet Chin Music for years. But it was Randy Savage's finisher and will doubtless forever be associated with him first and foremost above all.
I can understand Cena's point on this one. I get it's out of respect, but if Cena did it don't kid yourselves you'd be flipping your lids.

**** you Cena, **** you WWE this is another desperate move to try to get Cena over. He's now paying tribute to Macho Man just so the crowd loves him more.

And don't tell me Punk pulls the move off well either. I think Test does it better than him.
Of course HBK did it, but Punk's elbow drop is done with the memory of Savage in mind.

I think it was a nice line Cena used, he actually did great last night.

Thanks for the clarification. Haven't seen Raw yet.
Punk was a huge Macho Man fan, stating this numerous times after his death (in interviews.. and I think even a tweet or two). The next time on a show, Punk was wearing the pink and yellow tribute colours to Macho, and did the elbow drop.

He does the same thing with other wrestlers - imitating as a form of flattery. Like last night, he wore the Hitman colours and executed a backbreaker similar to Bret, the standing leg drop, the elbow off the second rope. Obviously, in the match, he was doing it trying to come across as a heel. But I'm sure the wrestling-fan in Punk was having a blast doing some moves from Bret's old routine knowing Bret was watching in the back.

Punk used it of his own accord as a tribute to Savage.

And yes, HBK did regularly use the elbow drop but it wasn't his finish - more a lead in to his finish.

You know how many people use leg drops regularly? Hogan made it famous as it was his big finish and if you're gonna reference anyone when someone uses a leg drop it'd be Hogan.

This is how the elbow drop is for Savage.
Cena's character was so out of line last raw.
I am pretty sure when Punk uses the elbow, he raises his hands high similar motion to Savage when he does his elbow drops. It is nothing like the one HBK does.

I remember a line from some commentator during a Rey/Eddie match. Rey just did a Springboard top rope legdrop and he said: "Only Hogan does it better. He's stealing from the best"
Punk used the move as a tribute and it got a pop. Now that Punk is a heel it makes no sense to use a move that'll get a face pop so Cena saying what he did will let the fans know they should boo if Punk uses the move anymore.
Is CM punk ever gonna actually nail someone with the elbow instead of barely grazing them?

if youre gonna use the move why Modify it? i guess its a injury thing.. i say if youre not gonna safely execute the move then DONT DO IT AT ALL..

His elbows are just as bad as shawn micheals clothelines lmao

Someone with a Rock avatar is gonna talk about bad closelines? Other than the spinebuster and DDT all of the Rock's move look like crap.
