It was realistic. Some people do have a gun in their home to protect them from potential intruders, and if someone does break in they're going to use it, or at least threaten to use it.

I say as wrestlers he should have used a steel chair instead, in kayfabe all wrestlers use steel chairs in their homes to protect themselves lol
