This isn't a thread about Mahal's physique but instead a thread about how physique still matters and that if all these indy wrestlers all want to be WWE champion, they better start hitting the gym, working hard, and build that muscle mass.

A lot of smarks nowadays think that physique doesn't matter to fans anymore. As Triple H once said, if you are over with the fans, we will push you. Mahal got over despite being a jobber just a little while ago. The obvious clear difference? His body has become a Randy Orton physique.

Jinder Mahal is the poster boy for why that thought or ideology that physique doesn't matter and it's all about in-ring work.

People who cry and want pushes for some of their favorite stars should consider why their star doesn't work out and achieve a better overall look and physique.

"Da look" is still what helps someone get over. Khalil, Orton, Hogan, Cena, Reigns, and many more are the shining example of that.

Now, Jinder Mahal is part of that unique physique list as well.

Now, I will admit, Physique isn't EVERYTHING, but it is required.

Jinder got a huge push because he ethnically descends from a country that has like a bazillion people in it and an untapped market for the WWe.

If people actually got over because of hard work and hitting the gym then Chris Masters and Ryback would have been 30 time WWe champions by now.

Jinder's look is great for his role. You cant really be an intimidating heel without the look and the size.

But that doesn't mean everyone has to be big. If big guys drew, the heavyweight divisions in Boxing and UFC would be the most popular. But they are nowhere near. Seeing big guys had novelty back in the 80s when there was no internet and seeing a guy like that was something special.

Nowadays, big guys are a dime a dozen. People care more about talent and the ability to entertain.

He's over now because he's the champion. He's not the champion because he got over. The best way to be over as a heel now is to come across as someone that fans don't think deserves to be where they are. So he's super over right now because so many people don't think he should be anywhere close to the main event scene.

Who's "wrong"?

Are you saying that smarks (Assuming that all "smarks" fit the mold of the narrative that you're trying to present) are "wrong" for enjoying one element of pro wrestling over another?

Just stop. Please.

The ratings speaks volumes, and so does WWE's admission of thinking India is their top market because of para-social media working for them in India while ignoring the fact that there's not much merchandise there, have only done a couple of house shows in the past decade and not many buy the ppvs over there....but that's proving "smarks" wrong....WWE has become their own smark for Twitter.

All it confirms is Vince likes muscular guys.
Maybe because Muscular guys have made him a ton of money?

Austin, Rock, Hogan, were all pretty muscular and on the level of Mahal in their prime.

And the biggest star of all time, was Hulk Hogan, who was pretty much a body builder physique with his 24 inch pythons.

This.

It proved the smarks were right, if anything. Mahal got pushed because the boss deemed it, too. That's what smarks complain about. And, Mahal proved that the boss makes all decisions.

Wrestlers should be muscular and larger than life. It's an entertainment show at the end of the day built around fake fighting and a made up universe of characters. So the stars should look like stars and be larger than life.
I don't really like wrestlers looking "normal".

The vast majority of wrestling fans are ugly, look at the audience of any show or any autograph signing and you'll see fat, bald, ugly, spectacle wearing middle aged neckbeards who have never even spoken to a women. Hell you can tell half the people on here have never spoken to a real woman.

The look is a huge part of successful both in life and in the WWE, these ugly people that make up the majority of the wrestling community don't want to admit this and they remain in such a deep level of denial they'll think of any excuse to accept the truth.

If the Rock looked like Daniel Bryan he wouldn't be in Hollywood. He'd probably be getting Jobbed out to Jinder now while the neckbeards screamed about how great he is on the mic.

Having the right look for your environment is crucial. Jinder has it now and he's reaping the rewards.

It is, but there comes a point where talent just covers for a lack of look. WWE superstars now play a role where it really is no longer necesaary to be really muscular or big but some people don't like that because to them, thats not the pro wrestling they want. What pisses me of is if wrestlers get pushed purely due to body, size or something else completely unrelated to talent. I can handle someone getting pushed purely because he has talent and no other marketable thing about him because he can actually entertain me even if he looks like the guy next door. Also, the people who look down on guys that don't have the look but their characters don't need the look. For example, Sami Zayn's look is perfect for his character, Wyatt's look is perfect. Doesn't stop some people from calling Zayn unintimidating(thats the bloody point, he is a pure underdog) and Wyatt fat(this is lolworthy). Its like to some people, if you're not at least 6 foot 3 and 250 pounds and have the body of a greek god, you instantly suck.

They need looks that fit their part/role/gimmick. Most of the roster doesn't have that.
