Just something that popped into my head. I remember calling them a few times as a kid and was generally disappointed in the things that I was told. The only information I can recall that was factual was the Vader/Paul Orndorff fight.

And the most obsurd piece of information that I got was that Chris Jericho was going to debut in WWE as the newest member of DX, with the name of "X-Calibur" and was going to be X-Pac's tag team partner.

I also remember hearing the local hotline we had in WV referencing the ratings from the previous Monday and I had no clue what they were talking about.

So, did anybody ever call the hotlines and did you find it useful or was most of the information irrelevant and total bullshit?

I never called the hotlines, even though I constantly saw the numbers in magazines and on the shows. During the mid/late 90s when they were going hot, I'm sure I asked my parents if I could and they shot me down. At the time I was disappointed, but looking back on it, I'm glad I didn't. I'm sure they were complete junk anyways.

Yeah, I called a few times and damn was that bill high. Take that in with the fact that most of the information was bullshit, I can say that had to be the dumbest thing I ever did in my life. Guess thats what I get for calling while my grandmother wasn't home, despite her constantly telling me I better not call.

That is freaking AWESOME! They for real said that?

I never personally called but two of my friends did. They said about the equivalent of the bs they told you. I never really believed what my friends told me, I guess maybe they weren't making up what they were told. I'm digging deep in the catacombs now but I believe they once were told who Undertaker and Kane's father was and it wasn't Paul Bearer, I think they told them Lawler but I could be wrong. Their was also some scandalous thing with Sable or Debra, hell I don't remember.

If I see those buddies anytime soon I will ask though.

Hell yeah.

In southern WV, in our phonebook it was various hotlines you could call and get reports on various things. It was one called "Wrestling Wrap Report". It would update once a week and the things I remember most is them giving the ratings, results of random shows and various news reports. And the only 1 that comes to mind is Jericho supposedly debuting at X-Pac's tag team partner and joining DX.

So, when Jericho debuted during Rock's segment, I was let down and decided than that I would never call a hotline again. To make it worse, it was a local number so my grandmother allowed me to call. Problem is, they would charge 2 dollars a minute to use the service and the average report would take about 15 minutes. So, that came up to about 30 dollars a week, about 120 a month. It cost 120 dollars in 1 month to hear the biggest crock of shit I ever heard in my life!

I remember there was a free local call line with various things on it like movie reviews and horoscopes among other things. But they had a free wrestling hotline and you could get all of the backstage dirt on it. I used to call it weekly because there was no fee. But I never called "Scheme" Gene's hotline or anything.

Nope, but I did call the dating girls hotline when I was 11-12 years old, little did I know one call is $150, the shittier part is I didn't even speak to any chick it was just a stupid machine, and man did I get in so much shit from my parents.

:jay2

I bet that was a letdown.

I had a friend who called one of those chat lines. Sad part was, he ran the phone bill up. To make it even worse, he was 23 years old at the time. And my homeboy had went to work and let him stay at his house when he was gone. Little did he know, his friend called the chat lines, ordered various porno's off satellite and stole his G-Shock watch.

Let's just say they weren't friends after my homeboy had bills in excess of 500 dollars from various chat line calls and PPV bills, not to mention his watch that was stolen.

Haha I think I remember hearing that Jericho rumor on the hotline I used to call. A few weeks later the one I called reported that he was the Millenium Man behind the countdown though.
