DDP's injured ribs

Ok what was the deal there? I swear the guy had his ribs bandaged up for almost the entire year of 97 and into 98 as well, they even have him in the WCW video games with his ribs bandaged up. I mean he had hurt ribs about as long as Bob Orton had a cast on his hand. It seems like that pretty much just became his attire, bandaged ribs with jeans.

I believe the injury was real for a least a little but and then it just became an angle.

Maybe the injured ribs were an actual injury to DDP then an angle was born.

It stems from when he was in the hospital screaming in pain, while Kimberly was on her back screaming Steiner's name
