Over that past few years wrestling has become more generic in the stuff they do. But one thing that kind of stuck out to me that could easily be fixed is all the wrestlers are starting to look alike. Im not sure if this is just my own opinion but to me they dont implement costumes like they use to. It seems that all the new guys are just juiceheads in man panties. Back in "the day" wrestlers seemed to be more in character and there were alot more costumes and different looking wrestlers. Now there doesnt really seem to be actual characters. Most of the wrestlers use their real names or a name WWE makes up for them that seems like their real name. I would in the future like to see more extravigant costumes and characters. It would be a nice change of pace. Any thoughts?

But wrestling names and gimmicks aren't marketable! Vince McMahon is building SUPERSTARS not wrestlers! What do you mean the two biggest media successes from the WWE were named Hulk and Rock?

Nonsense. Bring up more FCW guys in black trunks and black boots named Frank McMurphy.

I completely agree. And when people tell me that it works, I point out the Undertaker, and even HBK to a large extent. Triple H, Edge. This generic look is ruining people. They have raw boring talent. There is so much potential with Drew McIntyre, Chris Masters, TED -FREAKING- DiBASE who has a built in gimmick! If recycling works, use it! Have him stick a 100 dollar bill in some guys mouth. Even Zack Ryder is better then many of these generic guys.

Cody Rhodes though, defiantly have to admit I like the gimmick.

yea i understand that vince is trying to make money and market these guys. But your going to get the to point to where every one of your wrestlers looks alike. It would be nice to have another character creepy and dark like the undertaker. I mean dont give him the same exact gimmick but give him something unique. I would just like to see some real characters than a bunch of average juiced up men in speedos. Hell give them a name like Frank Mcmurphy or let em keep their real name but for christ sakes give them a costume or something different to wear.

There is little creativity within creative anymore. They showed some with the creation of Nexus but inevitably went back to their roots of traditionally repetitive booking.

Yea thats true. It seems like they come up with a great idea and then halfway through they stop working on it and just release their half-assed version of what it was supposed to be.

agree totally

nash brought this up years ago in an interview, talking about samoa joe iirc - how joe stood out as much for his look as anything else, as pretty much every other potential talent was a juicemonkey covered with tattoos

different ring attire would be great, but i'd also like to see different body types. nearly everyone now has an in-shape sort of look - we need more bundy and earthquake types, more barrel chested 'tough guy' types, etc.

enough with the abs

Honestly, 95% of the gimmicks from the old WWF was beyond riddiculus. Im glad they went away from that. But yeah they need more diversity. Im thinking especially fat wrestlers. They could do more characters and gimmicks too though, right now its just bad guy/good guy.

It's hard to see how Vince is supposed to market half these guys when they have some sort of vague gimmick and no distinct qualities.

I mean, hell, even A-Train has more character than some of these guys.

yea and if you dont watch WWE on a consistent basis you wouldnt know the difference from the good or the bad guy by looking at them. I just wish creative would actually be creative for a change.
