I have read through a lot of posts around and some people on here are really giving Cody Rhodes a lot of praise.

Can someone please point out what I am missing? Because, I honestly can't bear watching the guy in the ring, he looks awkward, ungainly, he looks predictable and his finishing move is just dull. And he needs some better fitting trunks!!

I feel that the WWE has better heels coming through at the moment, like Brodus Clay, Justin Gabriel (who is my tip for star of the future) and Drew McIntyre.

So please, somebody enlighten me, why is Cody Rhodes so highly rated?

I don't know, I never really thought of him as anything other than a roster man, IC/US Champion at most... His new gimmick hasn't worked for me.

However I didn't think much of MIZ at first, it took him a while to grow on me, so I guess I'll have to wait and see if that happens.

Well, you know what it is? He's this kind of guy (at least for me), that slowly grows on you. Guys like Alberto Del Rio and Wade Barrett (some won't agree) have that "it" factor, that the first time you see them, you think DAAAYUUUM MAINEVENT! And some guys just need time, that slowly get there, some nice US/IC reigns will help with it and will slowly get them higher and higher.. Cody is one of these guys, together with Swagger (he's been WHC yes, but he's getting a new "build" it seems), Ryder, McIntyre (altho not a fan YET) will get there, but it will take some years. Just look at the Miz, he's the perfect example.

Dude, what are you talking about? Cross Rhodes is an awesome finisher. It's a hell of a lot better than most of the finishers they have these days.

1) He plays his character as well as anybody else in the company.
2) Said character is the best WWE currently has.
3) In-ring skills and mic-skills are supreme.
4) Great feud w/ Rey Mysterio.

He's proven himself in the last couple months but I don't see him main eventing Raw.

And for the love of all that is good, he needs to put on some knee pads. It just looks weird.

Cody has shown a lot of heel charisma and has really made his gimmick work but i'm not sure fans would buy him as a legit main event guy but i think there'll always be a place for him on the card.

He's an average, unspecial, vanilla talent. He's not good enough to be main event material, but he'll get a world title run eventually, however he's not gonna be a big time guy. He's gonna be one of those guys like Swagger who end up with like 2 title reigns, because he'll only be appropriate in the main event when someone else is injured or a feud bigger than the title is taking place.

I don't think I'll oppose his title reign much, though. He's not a bad talent, he's just not a good one.

I think he's not a main eventer just yet (by ANY means) but he will be in years to come. Just look at the improvement made in his in-ring work in the last year, together with some excellent mics skills as displayed in making his gimmick REALLY work. He's one of the most over gimmicks for me. I buy the psychology within his ring performances and he suits the gimmick so well.

Keep the improvement up and the main event will come in the next 2/3 years.

My only disappointment is that I thought he was gunna where suit trousers together with a belt and shiny black shoes (but bare-chested) in the ring. It would look much cooler imo. Better than the naked chicken-legs we see now.

Not without the dashing gimmick, that shit was bomb and they're fucking retarded for ending it so soon.

He was over as fuck and then they made him boring with this whole ugly dark side bullshit. He should just stay the narcissistic prodigal son, he sells that gimmick perfectly and it works from a kayfabe standpoint because he's 3rd generation. What he lacks in size he makes up for by being the a 3rd generation WWE superstar; It's believable kayfabe-wise for him to be beating bigger and badder dudes.

DCR used to be the highlight of Smackdown for me. He was unintentionally hilarious with that big shit eating grin. I cracked up when he got all pissed off if somebody touched his face. I thought it was cool the couple times they had that be like his "hulk up"; hit him in the face and he goes ape shit and fucks you up with the crossroads.

I miss the Dashing gimmick. Cody is still entertaining and one of the best workers in the company but he's gone stale to me! It's a testament to his ability that's he's still able to entertain even with boring booking.

Cody Rhodes is an Abercrombie and Fich model with good personality and mic skills; the fact that he has personality and mic skill doesn't mean that he'd be a credible champion. Its not even about in-ring skill, he simply looks like a guy they would cast for Twilight; we are talking about a fictional universe based on a combat sport, its implcitely expected that a world champion isn't a ****ing androgonous prettyboy and comes off as legit. Even Miz, for all the faults with his look, is at least somewhat bulky.

Keep the kid as a midcarder and have him feud and put over prospective midcarders who have more potential to break through. Why does Cody Rhodes need a championship to be entertaining? His character shouldn't need to be a main eventer (or generally credible beyond lowercard jobber at that) in order to actually be good and this is not a guy who can even conceivably increase buyrates headlining shows.

Rhodes, with his current level of talent is not getting more than 1 or 2 reigns. If he wants to be a huge star instead of a transitional main eventer, he better get a lot better.
