16 Championships.....9 time Heavyweight Champion.....

If Cena wins one more title he surpasses the Rock....

Can Cena win a title this year? If so, this will put him above the Rock on the all time list.

The above mentioned can also be a valid claim that the Rock can be equal to Cena.

Both may have 7 WWE Championship reigns and 2 World Heavyweight Championship (known as the WCW Championship in 2001) reigns a piece, but Cena been a world champion 3x as long as The Rock.

come WM 28 john Cena will have been in the WWE for 10 years - 02 he debuted it is almost 2012

rock was an active member about 6 years - 96 - 02

cena having as much title reigns is more reasonable

In an era with no real competition, is it surprising. Rock had to share his limelight with HHH (when he worked a full schedule), Undertaker (same thing), Austin, Mankind, Jericho, Angle and others. Also some of Cena's reigns have been world titles rather than wwe titles, so the brand split clearly helps him gain more titles than Rock.

Edge is a borderline Mid Carder and you are comparing him to Austin?

Cena will go down as a legend in this business.

It's debatable Cena vs. Austin
Edge is a midcarder? He has been world champ for 5 months now. He will also go down as a legend in this business. Boy, do you know how much Edge has done in the last 12 freakin years?? If you don't like him, just say so, don't put him down.

Edge has more reigns then Austin, does that make him better?

He does make a point. He's point is valid if your talking about the # of titles reigns and not who's better.

Cena's passion is unprecedented.

He really loves the business.
Why does everyone bring this up about Cena? Who cares if he loves the wrestling business? I love eating pasta, does that mean I should be an Italian chef? Enjoying something and having passion for it doesn't mean you're good at it. And using title reigns as a barometer for judging one's impact as a wrestler is a joke. If that's the case, Triple H has had a bigger impact on wrestling than Rock and Austin, which we obviously know is not true.

I was thinking that Cena probably has come close to beating the Rock on championship wins so this thread is helpful. Cena may have tied on World championships with the Rock, but in the modern era of professional wrestling championships change hands more frequently. Also, the point that John Cena has been in the company longer than the Rock may add to this. I think they really went for Cena in the early days and slightly liberal when giving him title wins, as opposed to working over the course of a longer stretch of time - which I think has worked him into a bit of a spot now, because if they give him many more title wins it really won't make him appear better - most probably the opposite.

The fact that I am claiming that Cena winning as many titles as the Rock maybe down to a surge of head rush by the creative team is saying nothing detrimental about John Cena's dedication, which is one of the highest in the business, clearly.

Also, titles are important within wrestling, obviously, but they should not define a wrestler. David Arquette has held a world title afterall, let's not forget.

WHAT???

I mean on one hand you are using championships as a marker to measure Cena against the Rock, but on the other hand you say we can't use championships as a marker to measure Edge against Austin? eh...:rolleyes::rolleyes:

You are obviously a Cena mark, fair enough, but start adding a bit of weight to those arguments!

The Championship argument is a good one, but it's based on booking and how much titles change hands in different eras, so the argument is null and void.

Austin has 6 wwe championship reigns. Cena has more. So that must mean that Cena is better than Austin right. I think Austin is VERY overrated at times, but christs sakes there's no comparison, no matter how much the WWE shoves Cena down our throats.

If that's the case than HHH beats everyone cause he's been a main eventer for 12 years and has 13 championship reigns...So HHH > Rock/Cena/Hogan/Austin/ Edge, everyone in the WWE.

To go even further ; Ric Flair beats them all with 16.

So like I said, the championship argument while fun, means absolute shit when determining who has the upper hand over anyone else.

HBK had 4 reigns, and Bret hart had 5....both of them are more talented that the people mentioned above besides Austin pre neck injury and Flair in his prime.

GTFOH lol
