Some of you might remember from the Royal Rumble 1992, that when Sid Justice eliminated Hulk Hogan he got a giant pop. But if you weren't at the live event, you wouldn't have known that pre-recorded booing sound effects were pumped in through future broadcasts.

You might also remember that when 'Gillberg' came into the WWF, it sounded like he was getting cheered 'GILLBERG, GILLBERG!!'. Nope, all done with editing. Hell even King and JR said the crowd wasn't cheering.

Now, being that we're now in modern times and the power of special effects and editing are getting better and better...who's to know if whether or not we gets cheers pumped into guys like John Cena  or Booes pumped into Chris Jericho

What would you're reaction be if, say for example, Kofi Kingston walked in and you booed him as loud as you could*, only to find that on re-runs, you were pretty much cut out of the reaction?

*Not that I'm saying he'sa bad wrestler :p

You mean.. they might be.. lying?

In all seriousness, it does not matter. If faking reactions somehow gets a guy over, it is good for them and the company. If (more likely) it means squat, then it is not going to help them anyway and they will have to find other ways to get guys over.

I could swear Cena's been getting a few canned pops recently. It's really annoying to be honest, I hate how they can't just let the crowd do their thing, they have to pipe in cheers wth the music just in case the crowd in attendance isn't loud enough. Especially when they make it obvious that the crowd isnt actually cheering.

That was the very point of the Gillberg character. It was a joke at the expense of Goldberg. The reason for piping in "Gillberg" chants was that the WWF was implying that Goldberg's entrance chants in WCW were also fake, as was heavily rumoured at the time. Gillberg's chants were done to sound as fake as possible, and the commentators pointed it out to go along with the gimmick.
