A touch of genius (ala Hogan's heel turn at the Bash that gave birth to NWO or Montreal Screwjob that gave birth to Mr. McMahon)

or

A horrible mistake (Fingerpoke of Doom that ended WCW or Invasion Storyline that could have been the greatest angle ever)?

And why?

a touch of genious:

why?

Because if it was 22-0 no one would remember this match in a year. Due to it ending 21-1 it's remembered by people forever. Which is a Wrestlemania moment.

Horrible mistake. If the Streak was ever going to be ended, which I don't think it should, it should have been an up and coming full time wrestler, not a part timer like Lesnar who has never really cared about the business. Doesn't help that the build up was terrible and the match itself was nowhere near the big event it should have been...

the biggest mistake in this century of wrestling.

not that the streak ended, but they gave it to a part timer who just shows up for a big paycheck. No value in the win at all, and you think the match he loses in would at least be a 4-5 star match AT LEAST, but this was one of the most lackluster performances from undertaker i can recall.

Its just way too early to tell. Taker may not be able to go for long, but the rub of cleanly ending the streak means Leaner can really put guys over if used correctly. If he doesn't lose until WM, whoever faces him can get made by that one victory.

It wasn't just Brock that got the rub, either, it was Heyman, too. His association with the King Of Swing will elevate Cesaro, if done correctly, and there's no reason he can't help push other guys with it in the future, too. He's constantly got the "mastermind behind the end of the streak" in his back pocket for every heel promo now, too.

The match itself will be remembered as not being a fitting end for the unbeatable Taker, unfortunately, this concussion he suffered robbed it of that. He had better WM matches, and better matches with Lesnar. The image of the crowd when the referee counted 3 was amazing, though. I haven't seen an audience shocked like that in a long, long time.

It's still fresh to really know. But I picked that it was a good choice for the WWE to finally end the streak. But we won't know how much it truly benefited Brock till he retires and we see the whole picture.

But I will say the pure shock factor was amazing and I will never forget that. I don't think I've ever been that surprised from a WWF/WWE outcome.

It amazes me how much backlash is still being received for ending a scripted streak. The Undertaker didn't cry as much as some fans on here :lmao I will truly miss The Undertaker he was one of my all time favorites, but I'm glad the predictable streak is over and the Dead Man can finally rest in peace. He deserves it, his body truly needs a break.

It will be remembered the same way that Austin's heel turn at Wrestlemania X-Seven is remembered, a truely shocking and significant moment in wrestling history.

The stories that it creates, or the careers that it ruins or makes, or the opinions of the millions of people asking 'was it the right choice?' truly do not matter. Wrestling is about creating moments that will last forever, moments that no matter how many years pass or what happens in your life, you will still remember how that moment made you feel. I have no doubt that the 80,000 in attendance and the millions watching around the world will never forget the feelings they had for the 10 seconds after the streak was broken. That moment was Pro-Wrestling.

I think it will be remembered as a shocking moment in WWE history and regardless of where it goes from here it will be remembered as a moment. Does not matter who broke the streak, just that it was broken.

Think about it this way. Ric Flair defeated Harley Race at Starcade 1983 for the title, but it was not like that was Flair's first title reign. He held it from like 1981 to 1983 and then won it back vs Race, but people remember this match. Do people say, but he was already champions so this match doesn't matter? Nope.

People remember Hogan slamming Andre in a match that had never been seen before, well except for 7 years earlier, but people don't say that. They remember Hogan winning at the silverdome.

Do people remember Warrior defeating Hogan and say, "but his title reign stunk, so that was a wasted moment." Nope. (well except maybe for Hulk)

Even though the fingerpoke of doom was awful, people still remember it.

This is what I think will happen with the streak being broken. People will remember just that and not what happened afterwards or before.

IMO, they would've still made Lesnar a star had they not given him a clean finish, but a match where Taker wrestled him to a stalemate with the ref throwing in the towel. It would've been a win with an asterisk and the argument over whether the streak even ended or not would've gone on forever. The fans wouldn't have been as unhappy imo.
