Never understood the fanfare for HiaC as a gimmick. Well aside from Mick Foley going ON the cell but thats something quite different.
Other than that the cell just obstructs the view and it offers little. Cage matches have more psychology to them because of the 3 victory scenarios.

Eh I wouldn't go that far, Cage matches mostly overstay their welcome but I do enjoy the Bret and Owen match inside a Steel Cage from Summerslam '94.

Maybe in the modern era cage matches are better, but back in the attitude era/ruthless aggression era HIAC matches were better.
