Theyve signed no one of note. They have no major TV Deal. At this stage it is just a super indy promotion. I Don't get why anyone thinks they are the new WCW or anything. Why people think WWE well be out of buisness a year from now is beyond me.

It does seem like the initial hype has died down a lot. Even on the AEW thread, there's no relevant news and basically just 4 or 5 people talking between each other.

I'm guessing it'll be like this until their big show unless they announce a major signing that will peak casuals interest instead of indy guys most ppl aint heard of.

No one's talking because there is nothing to talk about right now. We're still a few months from their first show and they haven't announced a TV deal.

If they announce a TV deal with Turner, sign Dean Ambrose and potentially CM Punk then expect hype levels to go through the roof.

Everyone is clamouring for Punk. The dude is 40years old, lost his passion and was never a big draw in WWE. His second UFC fight also drew shocking PPV buys.

He's not the saviour of wrestling and most casuals will lose interest a couple of months in if he returns.

Wrestling barely draws nowadays anyway.

Thanks for bringing some sense into this thread lol. Yeah, just nothing to talk about atm. Things will probaby pick up a bit next month when Ambrose and a couple other guys become free agents.

Multiple people who would know have already said they approached Punk and he said no.

They approached Randy Orton, you really believe they didn't approach Punk yet?

I don't see why everything has to compete with WWE - it can be successful without having to destroy WWE (the WWE is doing that to themselves at the moment)
When you are outbidding WWE for talent then yes you are expected to compete. If the XFL was outbidding the NFL for top players they couldn't use excuses that they are on same level as CFL.

All we heard last 7 years from the IWC is that WWE were overpaying giving Brock $5 million a year, despite WWE making hundreds of millions annually. If rumors are true AEW are paying the likes of Jericho and Omega similar money to Lesnar and then having them sit at home for six months doing nothing.

WWE made record revenue, profit and highest share price ever in 2018 so they don't seem to be doing too bad. Only the IWC would consider WWE growing it's revenue from $485 million in 2012 to $930 million in 2018 "destroying themselves"

Yeah jericho is no one of note. Either you are trolling or you don't know much about wrestling if you think jericho is not someone of note :lol

If you're in the wrestling business your competing with WWE. Starting with trying to get above TNA & NJPW is the first thing they should be trying to do.

Jericho is nearly 50 and has been last two years in NJPW and despite that they barely made a dent in us market.

Jericho has no history of being major draw either. Outside his run in 2008-09 he has been career midcarder in WCW and WWE.

Kenny Omega is biggest signing for AEW. It was obvious he was going to follow his friends though.

Jericho himself said he would never sign for another US company. Calling him someone not of note is delusional. Not expecting aew to compete with wwe. But saying jericho is not a big signing is wrong. Jericho is a top wwe name and if you asked casual I bet more people would know of him then a lot of people today in wwe.

He would be similar level signing to Angle in TNA in 2006 except Angle outside WWE was cool at first. As said Jericho has already been working outside WWE last two years.
