I think we can all agree that Bret Hart vs. Steve Austin was the most memorable and impactful match of Wrestlemania 13. It was a great match that acted as the launching pad for one of the most popular wrestlers of all time.

But before the event took place, what was the match that drew in the most fans? Austin/Hart, Undertaker/Sid, the Nation of Domination vs. Ahmed and LOD, or another match?

Re: Biggest Selling Point Of Wrestlemania 13

Shawn lost his smile, and vacated the world title just one month prior to Wrestlemania 13, so if you are looking to find blame for the confusing build, look no further than Mr Hickenbottom.

Undertaker/Sid was Clash of the Titans, but you don't expect much from two behemoths that both have no selling gimmicks.

You can always rely on Bret to deliver, and on this occasion over-deliver in spades.

Evidently nothing as it had the lowest buyrate in WM history and is supposedly the only Mania ever not to sell out

This. I was going to say that none of those feuds should be considered a draw. Most people probably purchased the ppv based on the Wrestlemania brand more than anything else.

edit: Also remember Meltzer talking about people leaving early even before the main event had started. So maybe Sid vs Taker wasn't the de facto main event of the show.

The poor PPV buy figures of Mania 13 shows that Steve Autism is a legend in his own mind, and not the draw that he claims to be.

If it wasn't for Tyson, Mania 14 would have had the same fate.

Then at Mania 15 and 16, Rocky and Haitch saved WWE's ass by being the top draws.

But The Haitch digresses-uhh.

Mania 13 had both Bret vs Austin and Taker vs Sid as the selling points-uhh.

Bitter Bret was someone who could always deliver at the biggest stage, if you don't count how boring his match with Shawn was at the previous Mania.

So much going on back then. Hart/Austin to me created the Attitude era so there's that but also Michaels losing his smile played a big role in WM 13. Got to think if that hadn't happened it would have been Hart/Michaels for the title. Maybe Undertaker/Sid/Austin in a triple threat for #1 contender.

Taker Sid was the intention but it was all thrown together due to coked up Shawn

Obviously Austin Hart stole the show

The Undertaker Vs. Sid. The Dead Man finally getting a title shot at Wrestlemania was definitely the selling point as evidenced by the ominous logo.
