Watching the WWE more recently, it seems creative is extremely uncreative when it comes to nicknames. I mean, they just seem so basic nowadays, nicknames used to be directly associated with gimmicks and were far more memorable. For example some of my favourite nicknames are
HHH's 'The Game' and 'The cerebral assasin' these two nicknames suited his character completely as Triple H is known for being calculating in the ring, exploiting an opponents weakness and using it to his advantage. Another good one is of course Bret Hart's 'Best there is...' since it was all about how in the ring Bret was legitimately a great wrestler.
Nowadays we have 'The Showoff'' Dolph Ziggler for example, which to me seems to basic and lazy. 'Hey this guy is supposed to be an arrogant show off, so let's call him 'The Show off''. The only recent one that I actually remember is John Morisson's 'Shaman of sexy' and 'Prince of parqour' because at least there's some alliteration and it works with his gimmick.
So what are your best and worst nicknames? And why?
