Batista Vs. Triple H from WM 21 is an underrated WM match & main event.

Watching it live back in the day, I didn't think it was anything special as I knew Batista would crush Helmsley, but after being inspired by the "What's Hunter's best WM match?" thread, I rewatched it and it was a lot better than I had remembered. The main event for Wrestlemania 21 had a great build-up going into it, but I really loved the story it told in the ring.

It was a back and forth contest, but once HHH was busted open, the Animal saw weakness in his prey and went in for the finish despite The Game using every trick in the book to try to hold onto his World Heavyweight Title.

I prefer Cena Vs. Helmsley the following year, but Triple H went all out to make Dave look like a star. Great match, I appreciate it now.

I wouldn't say its underrated, the build for the match was spectacular and the match itself (due to Triple H) was excellent. One of the better things WWE did between 04 and 06
I also watched this back not too long ago and I totally agree that its pretty underrated. Excellent build up and very good match. I think it had to be good as well, considering how bad the Cena/JBL WWE title match was.
It's a good match, but I think I prefer the Backlash rematch over it. The HIAC is on a different level.
I remember the build-up being some of the best I've seen in the past decade, but I don't remember the match itself being anything but a boring botchfest. But this thread makes me want to give the match another chance (since my memories of Dave are 100% negative and I'm probably biased because of that).
yeah Triple H pretty much got squashed as far as i can remember...
Dave Batista vs. Shawn Michaels, ONS 08. Check it out.
Remember when people were constantly complaining HHH never put someone over etc? He then proceeded to make a new star just by himself. I'd say the match isn't underrated, perhaps HHH is underrated.

The build-up was awesome too.
The storyline and build up to this match was phenomenal; a real slow burning feud with some genuinely interesting twists and turns. I was never a fan of Batista's ring work, though, and I don't remember this match being a classic. I'll give it another watch tonight; maybe I'll reassess it and reconsider my opinion of Batista.
Batista's WM matches in general (bar 20 and 24) are underrated. He had a great one with Taker at 23 (which I personally enjoyed more than HBK/Cena) and the match with Cena last year was good.
10 times better than WM27's Cena VS MIZ.
Actually just watched this match again last night. It really was a very good match, but like many have said already...the build was what made it that match though. I think that Batista's post match celebration is one of, if not the most memorable of the modern era.
Triple H vs Batista? Definitely not overrated. I think it's rated just right. Not terrible but not an awesome match either. If people thought it was an awesome match, then it's overrated.
perhaps HHH is underrated.
How many beers have you had this morning? Just WOW!
I thought the match wasnt too bad when i saw it live six years ago, i vividly remeber that move Dave did, it was like a Kryptonite powerslam or something like that

Batista reign wasnt great but still an improvement over HHHs one and a half year long declaration of medocrity
It was a great showcase for why Triple H is still the most reliable man in the WWE when it comes to making talent look good. A good match with a simple story told really well. It also benefitted from one of the best build ups we've seen in WWE history.

I honestly felt cheated that Triple H and Batista didn't face off again in 2007/2008 when Batista had finally become solid in the ring himself. Wrestlemania 24 was a good time to do it. Instead of doing Cena/Triple H/Orton, they could have gone with Cena/Orton and Triple H/Batista. It's not like Batista was doing anything noteworthy on the event. He took part in a 5 minute throwaway match with Umaga for an easy payday.

I think they could've provided a great match around that time if they faced off again. It's a shame it didn't happen.
It was a good match but who can you follow HBK/Angle? The same happened at WM25 when HHH/Orton followed Taker/HBK.

Eh? It followed it fine. Batista/Triple H was, by far, the biggest match on the card. The crowd was into it too. When's the last time you had a match where the fans were cheering on and applauding (literally) the face with nearly every move he made against the hated heel? This is nothing like the HBK/Taker and Orton/Triple H situaton. You have a selective memory or a poor grasp of the situation if you think it is.

Every person Triple H ever put over eventually would be eventually retired or phased out while triple H continued winning world titles WHEN HE CLEARLY ISNT THE BEST ANY MORE! he may have gotten them some attention but in the long run they ended up worse than they went in, WHY ELSE WOULD TRIPS GET A WIN OVER CENA FOR THE BELT AT BACKLASH 2008

Batista post his 2006 arm injury was as crap as Triple H post the knee injury

It wasn't one sided enough IMO,

batista should have just destroyed him for 10 minutes and not let hhh get any offence in,

you can't have a guy like tista in a back and forth match with trips and having to sell.
