How comes we rarely see this anymore?

I was thinking this exact thing the other day when i was watching some old Smackdown clips. We don't see it often enough IMO.

Its just mainly little chats and interviews now.

Yeah man i remember when backstage was used just as much as the main stage.

It's boring that way. Great feuds can't always happen in the ring. This isn't the 80s

Since it's the 'Reality Era', according to some people, you'd think they'd have tons more backstage segments showing the wrestlers interacting with each other outside of the ring.

For example, since Daniel Bryan's feuding/was feuding with the Authority, they could show him being kept out of the locker rooms and forced to use a janitor's closet or something. I don't know, little things like that that can really up a storyline.

I remember when Foley was the WWF commossioner and every week his office would be at a different backstage location, those were great times.

Lack of backstage segments hurts the product. They are a great way for people to show their character (and thereby get over), but only main eventers get them these days.

Backstage segments/attacks = another reason that NXT is better than RAW/Smackdown.

I think the last good backstage segment to me was during the Ziggler/Cena feud when AJ went into the Mens lockerroom and jumped on Ziggler then Ziggler threw Cena through the poorly built Stall Wall lol

Definitely something that needs to be brought back. Gives a lot more variation and ways of advancing storylines. Plus its more time efficient than always having a guy come to the ring to deliver a promo.

I wish there'd be more segments between the matches, though. I'm currently watching Jericho's 2001 and there were basically backstage segments, interviews and stuff between every match.

I'm not that bothered that there are less backstage attacks. I always thought they looked a bit daft. This man just happened to be following him with a Camera when this other bloke attacked him. Or two people talking about how they're going to betray someone else and don't notice the huge TV camera staring right at them. It's like wrestling is planned or something...

I agree with the Reality-Era answer, but I also think because the WWE wants to look more like a reality show or main-stream than a wrestling show (which they apparently aren't anymore) now.

I'm pretty sure The Shield was regularly jumping guys backstage just last year... do we forget so quickly?
