WWE officially announced Goldberg vs. Roman Reigns last night on Friday Night SmackDown. In previous years, this would have been a feud saved for the Raw brand but it’s happening on SmackDown since the company is pushing that the blue brand is equal to Monday Night Raw.
Although Paul Heyman is handling creative on Raw every Monday night, he will have a hand in the Goldberg/Reigns build-up going into WrestleMania.
The WrestleVotes insider Twitter account noted that Goldberg and Reigns have a friendship with Heyman so that is why Heyman will be involved behind-the-scenes with whatever they do leading up to WrestleMania.
This is not a total surprise because Heyman was hands-on with Reigns’ previous storyline with Brock Lesnar and Heyman has been friendly with Reigns’ family for many decades. In regards to Goldberg, it was Heyman who helped to bring him back to WWE in 2016 and he’s been very careful to not book him in a way that would expose him.
The idea behind the booking of Goldberg is to book him as a special attraction similar to how Bruno Sammartino was booked in the early 80s when he came out of retirement for a handful of shows.

Seeing Goldberg and Bruno comparison was odd to me seeing the generation gap and never seeing that comparison before. I get it though.Sammartino was never booked this strong in the 80s.
Right section, wrong seat! Roman turning heel angle would be great, but the guy to do it with should have been Daniel Bryan! Bryan has such a connection with the audience that he could get Roman over as a monster heel and not just the "company pet" that every boos because they know he is going to win. Not to mention. Daniel would carry Roman to the Match of the Night as well.Well the problem with this feud is basically problematic from the get go!! First and foremost , Roman did nothing to warrant a title match against Goldberg!! Second this feud is big enough it doesn’t need the title . Third theirs a reason people will shit on this match no heel!!
Now these were all easy fixes . First off they could have had Roman vs Corbin with the winner getting the last spot in the Chamber match and the loser starts the match. Add in any four others to make numbers, then afterwards Reigns wins, Goldberg comes out and Reigns spears him showing signs of a heel turn .
In the end at WrestleMania, Roman turns heel to win like Austin did at WrestleMania 17.
That's true, but one difference today is that they have a "spare" world title to play with.Sammartino was never booked this strong in the 80s.
I keep seeing people say that this feud is so big that it doesn’t need the title. But those people are failing to realize that the title needs this feud.Well the problem with this feud is basically problematic from the get go!!
