WWE officially announced Goldberg vs. Roman Reigns last night on Friday Night SmackDown. In previous years, this would have been a feud saved for the Raw brand but it’s happening on SmackDown since the company is pushing that the blue brand is equal to Monday Night Raw.

Although Paul Heyman is handling creative on Raw every Monday night, he will have a hand in the Goldberg/Reigns build-up going into WrestleMania.

The WrestleVotes insider Twitter account noted that Goldberg and Reigns have a friendship with Heyman so that is why Heyman will be involved behind-the-scenes with whatever they do leading up to WrestleMania.

This is not a total surprise because Heyman was hands-on with Reigns’ previous storyline with Brock Lesnar and Heyman has been friendly with Reigns’ family for many decades. In regards to Goldberg, it was Heyman who helped to bring him back to WWE in 2016 and he’s been very careful to not book him in a way that would expose him.

The idea behind the booking of Goldberg is to book him as a special attraction similar to how Bruno Sammartino was booked in the early 80s when he came out of retirement for a handful of shows.

A lot has changed in the last week in regards to the WrestleMania card. Click here for the latest WrestleMania news and rumors.

Thay would mean Goldberg should be elevating rising star talent not dominating the main event scene if he was used in similar vein to Bruno.

Goldberg should be gaining traction against well built but Less established talent to put over Top talent provided they are over and not ridiculously overpowered for a gimmick.

Well the problem with this feud is basically problematic from the get go!! First and foremost , Roman did nothing to warrant a title match against Goldberg!! Second this feud is big enough it doesn’t need the title . Third theirs a reason people will shit on this match no heel!!
Now these were all easy fixes . First off they could have had Roman vs Corbin with the winner getting the last spot in the Chamber match and the loser starts the match. Add in any four others to make numbers, then afterwards Reigns wins, Goldberg comes out and Reigns spears him showing signs of a heel turn .
In the end at WrestleMania, Roman turns heel to win like Austin did at WrestleMania 17.

That is a ridiculous take to say that Goldberg is being used like Bruno in the 80's. In the 80's, Backlund and Hogan were the champions (he was gone by the time Savage became World Champ in 1988). Bruno did a few special attraction matches here and there and he only challenged for the INTERCONTINENTAL Title a handful of times on HOUSE SHOWS.

He was used to put (then) MIDCARD guys over and the aforementioned IC Title matches were him filling in for stars and to help gates. He filled in for Steamboat when he was selling the throat injury for Savage (mini-feud started on TV when Savage was gloating in an interview with Bruno who was broadcasting and Sammartino called him a "schlime" [slime...LOL] and tackled him). He also challenged Honky Tonk Man for the IC Title in some spotsI believe to fill in for Steamboat as well who had taken time off. Both situations saw him give heat to the heel champions. They didn't pin him, but got countout victories over Bruno. There were also some tag matches he was involved in to help enhance feuds.

Bruno did not come in and win titles like Goldberg has!!! Guys like Goldberg should be used sparingly AND NOT IN MAIN EVENT TITLE MATCHES!!!!

Right section, wrong seat! Roman turning heel angle would be great, but the guy to do it with should have been Daniel Bryan! Bryan has such a connection with the audience that he could get Roman over as a monster heel and not just the "company pet" that every boos because they know he is going to win. Not to mention. Daniel would carry Roman to the Match of the Night as well.

Bryan went from having everyone at WM 34 cheering wildly for him to everyone at WM 35 booing him out of the building and putting Kofi Kingston over the following year.
Bryan is the most misused talent on the roster now. He is the guy to do that with. It wouldn't work well with anyone else and for dag on sure not with Goldberg who will he booed out of every arena he steps in to from now up to and including Wrestlemania.

I keep seeing people say that this feud is so big that it doesn’t need the title. But those people are failing to realize that the title needs this feud.
